I worried about the diffs between the '03 and '04, myself. There's a whole rumor thread on the '04s, and there's plenty of room for speculation how the US '04 might change. And even more room to opine whether the changes would be for the better.

For one thing, I wouldn't be surprised to see the US '04 get the 6 speed box that the VIIIs in the other markets got this year. On the one hand, a 6-box would make it easier to keep the turbo on song, but the new box doesn't have the history of the 5spd in the '03.
With the STi having the driver controlled center diff, there may be speculation whether the ACD might make it to the US. Personally, I doubt it, because Mitsu has to fight a reliabilty reputation in the 'States, and the ACD wouldn't help, there. Besides, they already used the extra space for some of the US emissions stuff.
Similarly, the larger (and US safety standard) fuel tank uses space the AYC would need, so that prolly won't be around the US soon, either.
But then, what do I know? A year ago, I didn't think we'd see the EVO at all over here. Now I own one.

One thing I'd like to see would be a 3-door hatch version of the EVO. I don't really need a 4-door, the car is so big I can barely fit it into the garage, --- and Mitsu needs something that can fit on WRC tracks along with the French midget cars.
Here's hoping that that front end makes it on the US 2004 Evo!.
I hope they focus on changing more expensive and difficult to change things on the car. Seat amterial is a few hundred bucks and a day at an upholstry shop. More power - forget it. Power is easy to come by. Give us an improved chassis. Handling is the most critical, rewarding, and dificult to greatly improve with aftermarket bits.
Sequential Manual Transmission. 6 speed prefered, 5 is ok.
Cruise Control. aftermarket one's never work quite right. Stock through the ECUcontrolled ones have never given me issue.
Full Underbody Aerodynamic Panelling. I don't knwo anyone with a wind tunnel who can fabricate proper paneling, like a multi billion dollar manufacturer can.
Some more subdued colors will be nice.
Pearl Ivory - Escalade
Deep Metallic Green - IS300
http://www.lexus.com/models/is/5spee...or_colors.html
Metallic Blue - M3

All the Colors offered on the IS300 would work too, heh.

They won't change the vehicle's performance but they will fix issues that come up with the 03s.
I hope they do not replace the Evo with a Evo Colt. And if they do, I hope they keep the four door around. I waited 5 years to get this car after I lost my Galant VR4. I like having a sedan that is a super car.
I read that EVO IX will be based on a global platform shared by the Dodge Neon starting in '06. More info on this can be found reading about the current SRT-4 that will go away in the next 24mos! That will mean all new pillars, glass, etc; ....Total re-design, not just a hopefull photoshopped facelift! Mercedes Benz influence will help build the platform.

Yes, that is good news, for a second I was worried.
Three Point 6, where did you read that the Evo will share a platform with the Neon. It seems logical, they are both small four doors and
is partly owned by Chrysler.

Canada - Please!
I don't care what version / colors / options / difs / anything - just bring the dam car into the country.
You would think with Press releases from the Mits. Canada site like this
--- snip ---Toronto, ON (January 3, 2003) - Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada, Inc. (MMSCAN) ended 2002 with the best 120-day sales of any manufacturer to launch in Canada in the past two decades. --- snip
that Mits. would be happy with us Canucks!

Does anyone have any contact information for Mitsu decision making groups? HQ? Marketing groups? I'd just like to offer them some advice into the market segment they are appealing to.. Sequential Manual Transmission (6 speed is a nice bonus), Cruise Control, UNder body paneling.

Well heres what Canada is getting for 2004, it looks like even when the IX does come out (im putting my pennies on late 2004 release, dubbed 2005 model) their still sticking with the Lancer-Cedia Unibody, but it seems that the rumor mill photochops of what the new Evolution is going to look like seem accurate.
