2004 MY Evo | All Goes in Here. Anything and Everything. [All Threads MERGED]
Yup
Hey it would be really nice but as light as the EVO is now I think that mitsu is going to go to some drastic measures to get some punds off it. I.E. No back seat, no radio, no A/C, no auto windows.
A lighter Evo would be nice. But the latest edition of Motor Trend and Road and Track have the 04 being the same as the 03. The only difference might be cruise control. I read that cruise control would be something they would install in 04. That was in one of the early articles about the 8. I think right now Mits needs to work on the quality and they know it. I know of three Evos that have been traded in due to quality and performance. One was sold back to Mits so the owner could buy an STi. He only had it for one month........I know this because I bought that Evo.
So, what should Mits due in my opinion. Build the damn thing better, the quality sucks, get 300 hp and add a few options. When are they going to do that. Probably in 05. The would be the time that they can freshen the front to gain some of the 04 Lancer cues, and maybe add a few levels of equipment. Until then, we can enjoy the hell out of out XIIIs and save money for the IXs.

Probably just minor changes a few hundred bucks more? cruise control? clutch line?
My fingers are still crossed for a Sequential Manual Transmission.
I guess I can always go aftermarket for under body aerodynamic paneling.

No, the pic with the big IX is not the 9, it's the 7. Then the sequence of thumbnail-size pictures on the bottom of that big picture is the 8. No 9's there.... Sad but true.
The second picture shows the 2F2F Evo7.
I scanned from August magazine "Best car"¡K.enjoy!

It basically saying that EVO IX will be out 02/2004 and since there is not much change from the 8, it will be an EVO 8.5.

. I like my car better
IS that saying the New evo will be here in the US in February or Japan. My fingers are crossed in hopes all the minor gremlins are resolved in 2004 with a few new goodies thrown in. Bring Papa that Sequential Manual Transmission!
Those headlights..... are really gross. Did they copy them from the Pontiac Aztek or smth???
Btw, those wheelarcs don't look real, look more like a computer edited arc from the evo 8. I don't really believe that's the new car. Plus i don't think Mitsu is ready to completely change the headlights in just one short year, i think it's too soon for any major cosmetic changes. If any then for 2005. So i'm pretty sure it'll look the same for the most part.

I never really had a chance at reading every single post on here.. so I don't know if this has been mentioned or not but.. I really don't think there is going to be too much difference in the EVO for next year... too many things are happing with Mitsubishi right now for the US.
For one... the new Eclipse is being a main focus right now.. for a fact.. it is going to be built off the Mitsubishi Endeavor plateform... meaning that it can be AWD or FWD.
Secondly the Galant is going through some changes for the 2004 model. The high end model (GTS) is going to be a 3.8 liter engine while the lower grades will have a 2.4 liter with Mitsubishi's MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing and lift Electronic Control).
The Diamante will have a change of apperence but will retain the 3.5 liter with a different exhaust system... 210 horse..
The lancer sportback and ralliart sedan will have the 2.4 MIVEC engine in them as well.
Plans of the Mitsubishi truck is complete no details yet..
This info is straight from the Mitsubishi Tech Trainers...

what i was recently informed about the the new eclipse from mitsubishi itself is there is no awd drive train. rember it is not on the endevor platform it is on the new galant platform. and new galant is not awd. the 04 evo will not have any changes. we have been told maybe a hp boost. the design of what the truck looks like is close to that buit a little diffrent.

Some Change != No Change
Minor Change != No Change
100% Identical = No Change
