It basically saying that EVO IX will be out 02/2004 and since there is not much change from the 8, it will be an EVO 8.5.
Best Car have been re-printing that imagine every issue since January this year. Though it makes sense that MMC may go with the new headlights as a cost effective measure. In the last rumour I head from Holiday Mag in July...they said MMC wants to have a seperate identity for the Evo, thus they will not be using these new headlights for the EvoIX or E8.5 as someone has said...as you can see in the attachment it has been striked out. The EvoIX is expected to be release next year when they re-enter into WRC. As the Colt Evo required more time for development and fine tuning, MMC said they will not rush this car for the 2004 WRC. It has also be rumoured the EvoIX may also be called the Evolution Final Version which means the 2004 model will be E8.5 making way for one more last model to be released.

From the picture it looks like the openings on the front fascia (brake cooling ducts on the outer edges?) have been enlarged. A lower more aggressive front is always nice. I've put off learnign japanese for too long, time to enroll in a class ASAP!

the last time i was at mmna i asked my friend if i should get a evo now or later he said wait it was getting more power and possible acd and front lsd. sayc was not really mentioned except that it really practicle in the u.s. because we dont have the same extream weather coditions as other countries. next years evo will be 8.5 becuase if you look at evo history it changes numbers every 2 years, plus its supposed to go into full production for 04. it didnt the first year because it was a rush just to get it here for 03. they are talking about the stripped down rs and the gta. i go bach up there in late october for some more training and i will ask more questions then.

I agree, and after reading all the posts on MLR about AYC failures, I hope and pray they don't put the AYC/SAYC on the US Evo ever.

While your up there pass along that a sequential manual transmission would be a nice additoin to the current 5 speed or any upcoming 6 speeds!

i know there working on the six speed but with all the problems with the 3000gt and the recall on the jdm tannys it might be awhile, plus its not a proven tranny yet.

If you are going to make comments, please just let us newbies where you are getting your information. I just dont want to go out and get an '03 if the '04 is going to have ACD, SAYC, etc...
