2004 MY Evo | All Goes in Here. Anything and Everything. [All Threads MERGED]
I get R&T, C&D and Automobile. One of the mags had a New Car issue where they list every make A-Z with blurbs about anything new. I remember reading regarding the Lancer that the other models will get new front ends that will resemble the Evo. Probably just the grille and headlights. I don't remember which month or which magazine, but maybe one of you guys who saves old magazines can look it up and report your findings. My old mags are in the landfill.

I wouldn't be surprised if mitsu DIDNT put out an Evo next year since they seem to have trouble selling them. Then again, I'm not sure just how many they expected to move. Its just my best inference that sales have been alot less than expected.

My wife just got back from Stohlman Mitsubishi in NOVA picking up a new door handle for my 99gst (don't ask!). We are planning on picking up a 2004 EVO this spring once the eclipse is paid off, and one of the new car salesmen told her they are only getting 15 more this year and do not have any allotment for 2004. He even proceeded to tell her that Mitsubishi is not making the evo for 2004? I'm sure this is total BS and just pressure to get the car now, but I just wanted to see if anybody had heard this? Thanks and keep up the posts, I’ve enjoyed getting to know the EVO through you guys!

The sales guys are saying "no Evo's for 2003" because they have no CONCRETE info about the next model year.....well that and they want to create an artificial buzz since they still have Evo's to sell this year.
Slightlyshady, What info do you have that leads you to believe that Evo sales haven't been as good as expected? ...I mean other than pure opinion?
Some lots have Evo's to sell. Those lots also marked up theri inventory a great deal upon release. This site created a semi-powerful boycott of those dealerships....that I think holds through to today in a few places.
Most dealerships are acutely aware of their remaining allocations for this year. And there aren't many more coming. So, in my opinion, if Mitsu sells all 5k Evos they allotted for the US, before the next Evo is released, sales were as good as expected.

Hey,
I am going to be purchasing an EVO in 3 months and the Sales Manager told me to wait for the 2004's. They have a Silver and Yellow 2003 right now and he said the 2004 information will be in the next 30 days. Mitsubishi is keeping it quiet. I wonder why? This could be a lie but I really don't care. If there is no EVO for 2004 I will get a 350Z Track edition in Blue and be just as happy. I am sure the dealers will have extra 2003's sitting around when I buy mine.

Secret Chimp, its just a feeling I have, esp. based on what other people on the board have said. I know locally theres been Evo's on the lots for months and new cars are usually snatched up pretty quick here. A combination of the huge mark up most dealerships have, the sucky economy, the fact that the Evo is not a well known car outside of the people that 'really' know the car and its history, and the fact that alot of people wait a year to get a new car so that the 'kinks' are worked out, all lead me to believe that Mitsu is pretty dissapointed with the Evo's sales performance. Again, all just inferences, I don't have any hard facts to go on really. I spend too much time in economics class every day...
The prices being marked up was the leading cause of people passing on the old Eclipse GSX. You would think that Mitsu would take notice and force the dealerships to stop doing that. The dealerships are the ones hurting sales. Especially with dealerships now selling STI's for MSRP.

I wish Mitsubishi would step up to the plate and be the first company to sell factory direct, they would save so much money for us and them and offer us cars at a no haggle price that would be considerably low.

That's a neat idea. It gave me the following idea...
should establish "RalliArt Garage" locaztions, staffed by highly trained and experienced factory technicians, that know the EVO and RalliArt products inside out.
A dedicated garage for performance enthusiasts with warranty coverage... probably won't happen, but we can always dream

Yeah, but where would you go if something went wrong on your evo? I don't think dealers would appriciate that.

Well you would have a service department where they would have Mitsubishi Motors owned distribution centers for the cars, then just hire Mitsubishi Mechanics to be on site to service cars, see problem solved. All I would like to see is the sales aspect of Mitsubishi cars change to Factory direct instead of going through a middle man. Mitsubishi wouldent have a problem with markups because then they would be the one selling the car, not a dealerships, and I could gurantee they would sell more cars that way.
It would just be alot easier, money saving, and less complaints among customers, eliminating the middle man thus selling more cars.
