2004 MY Evo | All Goes in Here. Anything and Everything. [All Threads MERGED]
Well, sales of the EVO are slow right?
My guess is quite a few people will want the wing. Quite a few people will want a/c, and will also want all of the creature comforts.
I'm sure there will be a big push to 'get the REAL Evo" not the, "stripped race version" by the salesmen.
I am still debating if I would like an Evo or not. The RS sounded good at first, but I think I would personally like a 2003-04 style "normal" Evo instead.
My only question, is the RS upgraded front differential offered as an upgraded package to the 2004 Evo? No way to find out until they are released I guess...

i just got off the phone w/ MY Mitsu in salinas, CA, and the sales rep, John Guru, told me that they have 3 2004 & 2 2003 EVOs in stock, and that as far as he can tell, there are no differences between the two model years... i'm very skeptical of this John Guru guy... what do you guys think?
I think that the dealer is just trying to get your into the dealership by saying they have 2004s already... anyways, in this month's popular mechanics, they have a short article on both the 04 rs and the 05 mr, and i would actually prefer the rs version because its cheaper and i like the way it looks w/o the wing, its just like the subaru i have w/ no ac, manual locks and manual crank windows, so its really not that bad

Fellas, All we can do is wait. The reason Mitsu made a couple "cold calls" is to get the opinion of the public as to what needs to be done to the evo over the next couple of years. Ever notice how any car manufacturer always has new improvements over the previous year's model. Now they could of put all of the 6spd/ayc/acd/lsd and whatever else I may have missed right from the start but I think 2 reasons prevented that.
1: The general public doesn't know or is not familar with the evo and
2: It didn't make sense financially to release the evo with all the amnenties if only a few would buy.
I mean think about it. You are Mitsu. You are releasing a car to a market as tough as the US for the first time. You don't know how the public would react to it so you keep the cost down to cover your expenses/losses by watering it down a little since everybody knows we get the junk cars anyway. Trust me when I say that Mitsu knows what they're doing. There isn't a doubt in my mind that if the evo sold all the units that were sent here that the next model would have gotten the good stuff at the same price( or maybe a little higher like 2g's or so) But anyway I point is this : Slow Acceptance= Slow release of the goodies. They started with the RS already by adding the LSD. Who is to say that the basic '05 or evo 9(whichever comes first) wouldn't have it as standard. You have to understand that Mitsu is a company like any other company out there and needs to make money in order to offer better stuff on future evo's. So with that said tell all your friends who haven't bought their evo yet to haul *** to the dealership and get one.

"...the company's new 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, announced this morning at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The new warranty is now standard on all Mitsubishi Motors products sold in the United States, starting with the 2004 model year. This includes coverage for the high-performance Lancer Evolution, winner of Automobile Magazine's "Automobile of the Year" for 2004 and the Sport Compact Car Magazine's 2004 "Car of the Year."..."

I thought it wasn't possible either. He had the wrong tire sizes listed and when he checked again he gave me the right sizes. I told him the 2004's weren't out and he said he just got it, has 500 miles on it and has the 315 watt stereo but could not afford the leather seats.
My BS meter was pegged but he brought up the options, not me.
