Over boost problem?

So I just bought my 03 evo 8 a few weeks ago, the car is stock only thing is exhaust cat back, and im having nothing but problems with it. So here is one problem that i am having. I keep getting a back fire/ fuel cut in 3rd gear when i go full throttle. I put a boost gauge in to try and trouble shoot it a little still waiting for my Wideband to come in. Here is a video of a 3rd gear pull, drive 1st and 2nd gear normal then get on it in 3rd all the way. Its full throttle the till i have to shift. Sorry for the bad video. Also i could not find a way to post it here just click the link and it will take you to my video. Thanks for the help.

Definitely not overboost, but I would suggest getting the car tuned by a reputable tuner and then you shouldn't experience any problems with fuel cut. I'm guessing the car was modded before you owned it and the previous owner removed some of the parts but left the tune he had.

Anyway, did you ever change or check your spark plugs and gap them correctly?

Yes I pretty sure the car was built at one point since there was a exhaust temp gauge in the car, well the sensor was still there. Also just a few other things i saw.
Im new to tuning evo's, what is a good tuning software/ecu for evo's?

stock ecu is very good and no reason to change it out. check out the ecuflash section of this forum, tons and tons of information to read about how to tune an evo and plenty of other things

You'll need to increase wastegate spring pressure. The WGA is adjustable. And as others have stated....get a tune.

Does your car have a manual boost controller or is it running the stock boost control setup?

The stock turbo setup will spike up then start tapering off in the higher rpm range. I'm not sure if it should drop that much. I would definetly take to get a tune or have it checked, if it's been modified and then put back who knows what tune is in it.
