Just got, buying, reviewing, thinking about a new Evo [Ultra Hyper Mega MERGE]
with a 7k trade in which I still owe 11k on (damn hondas) and an MSRP of 30,700 they figured it to be approx $750 per month.
BUT, it already has 1,400+ miles from test driving so you gotta figure that it wasnt broken in correctly.
Im 24 with good credit but they think my credit history is too short and want me to get a co-signer for a better interest rate and BTW he told me he didnt know what the interest rate was for that quote...

lemme tell u guys something..mitsubishi tried slamming me with a 15% apr....lol it woulda made my payments like 750 a month..noway...i go to my credit union walk out with a 4% apr with not even a penny down on it...goodluck to all soon to be evo owners
That's absolutely too much a month... as for walking away from a dealership when you're serious... I did. From the get go I knew exactly what I wanted (blue or black) Evo w/ or w/o sunroof for $28,000 (excluding taxes). They didn't have the color I wanted and had to ship one in and pass the costs on to me so I drove elsewhere and paid exactly what I wanted to pay (and what I thought was fair).
My suggestions to you are... how much do you want to pay for the Evolution (that's reasonable to you and the dealer), how much on trade-in (based on KBB or edmunds.com), what % rate are you looking for? (try to obtain the loan through a credit union or online) how much will insurance possibly run you? how much can you afford per month for the next five or six years? After you fill in all those pieces of the puzzle ... call around to different dealerships, ask for quotes... tell them it's the end of the year, another dealership will sell it to me for XX,XXX, etc. and you're serious. You should have an Evolution in no time
Edit: A useful tool is bankrate.com's auto loan calculator.

Personally, I wouldn't touch a test drive car. The two test drives I went on, I tore on the car as much as I could. The sales guys went off about how they had already ran the car into a ditch and had to repair the transmission and had destroyed two wheels in the process. Get a FOB (fresh off the boat)
whats your score on your credit ??
Also you always have to shop around and look for the best deal , just don't let them check your credit every single time , it deducts from your credit report.
I went to the dealer 3 months prior to my purchase and they didn't want to lower the price i wanted . I wasn't going to pay MSRP even less mark up prices that they had. I found another dealer willing to go 1000 below MSRP and which they only had one Evo of the color that i wanted. All i did is dealt with them over the phone, your credit score shouldn't affect how low they go on a deal , it affects your APR % . I waited for a few weeks and test drove the car again
on the first dealer that i had gone to begin with. They gave me a call a few days later (sales manager) wanting to make a sale and offer me a nice APR % (base on my credit ) which i new i had excellent credit and that they would match any deal that i had found on the market .
Bottom line i got the car for what i wanted and got to have a selection (among the same color lol) from 7 different ones . I pick the one that no one had test driven or seat on , since they had it on there storage place with the plastic covers still on the seats. It pays to be patiances ( for a certain amount of time ) Went dealing with them on a monthly base figure, you should use a finance calculator available on line , and get some figures going including taxes, APR% , and the amount of month the contract will take place with the price of the vehicle . That way you can have a ruff idea of what your dealing with. That way if your figure is 400 (just an example) and they tell you 600 you know something is wrong in the picture. You should always check before agreeing with any sales person the APR % that they are giving you, cause it will make a huge difference on the payments. If you have a good credit score you should be able to get on a 5 year at least a 4% and maybe even lower maybe 3.5%. Depending on how long you plan to base the contract also that will determine what low % they can give you. but they may vary from 1% point from year to year. Hope that helps and sorry for the grammar ....

I hate dealers because of that. Evo is a awsome car.
Also the more money you get on trade in the more you save on sales tax.
