Believe me the grass is allways greener elsewhere.
I spent some time years ago in Greensboro and Winston Salem and It wasnt all that much better or worse than Long Island just a whole hell of alot less expensive to live.
Maybe LI doesnt "suck" as much in certain ways compared to Asheboro, NC but I can tell you this If you lived anywhere near the North East you would be driving a 10 yr old Honda Civic because the Insurance would probably be unafordable otherwise.

Well I am the proud new owner of a beautiful red EVO. Got home from the dealership about a half hour ago...what an amazing car!!! I can't wait until the break-in period is over. Actually I got home with her about an hour ago but my son wanted to drive her and he had such a big grin on his face I couldn't say no...he loves cars too. All my 12 year old daughter kept saying was, "She is so pretty...I wish I was four years older". Anyway, I am a very happy man right now.

Congratulations! I'll admit that at 3400 miles in a month and a half the feelings diminished ... but not damn much!!! I field numerous requests to drive it and the kids and friends love it ...
... but it's the driving it that puts that silly grin on your face - constantly!
Enjoy!
