Just got, buying, reviewing, thinking about a new Evo [Ultra Hyper Mega MERGE]
No freaking boost guage.
No oil pressure guage.
No ammeter.
In other words, its a steroid buffed monster, but you have to trust that things are working as they should, as you can't see any indication. If it starts, and goes fast, then it must be ok.

i left one out. the armrest on the door hurts my elbow while driving. it's not cushioned, although it is in a good location.

P.S. Outside air temp and climate control on a WRC/Roadcourse car, please, roll down the window.
No cruise. I need it to help keep my lisc :-) Drifting from 75 (almost legal here) to 90 with just a hint more of the gas pedal on the highway is pretty easy and since speedo is sometimes hard to read, an extra 10-15 MPH is fairly easy to miss sometimes. At least the turbo whistle (or maybe tranny whine) at 80 lets me know when I'm creeping up.
No trunk light (or mine is broke??).
Minor, but steering ratio makes constant attention a must on highway.
Power fall off at higher RPM (maybe not falloff, but it does not explode either), but easily fixed for 4-500$ it seems.

VERY fun on an everyday basis, cruising, speeding, turning, doesn't matter if you're going fast or slow the s2000 has a very high chill factor. I drove the EVO once and was obviously blown away by its performance, but I dont know anything about how fun it is on a daily basis.

dislikes:
- cheap paint
- high rpms aren't as strong as i want them to be (probably cause i got use to them0
- very rigid suspension, not for the weakboned. (not really a dislike but drivingn 400 miles one way onen time, it did get uncomfortable.

My only complaint is that I'm over 10,000 miles away from it and can't drive it!!! I've had it for over a month and a half and was only able to drive it 3 weeks. Oh well. But seriously, my biggest problem, like many others here is no cruise control.
You are definitely going to miss some things about the S2000 if you relace it with an Evo. I'm not saying that you'll regret getting one, I'm saying that they are two different cars.
Simply put, the S2000 is a purpose built car for the sports/roadster enhusiast. The Evo is purpose built for the Rally/Auto Race enthusiast. Some may think they are one in the same but this is not true. The S2000 is a sporty ride that thirsts for open air and scenic romps. The Evo is a race car ride that thirsts for twisty roads and driver's attention to the car.
Things of negative note after one month of ownership:
- The way I get out of the car sometimes unhooks the mat, and it seems to need the hook because my last car's mat never moved around and it didn't have a hook.
- Since I'm more careful with turbo cars, I need to spend a few minutes in the car when I first start it in the morning until it gets decent temp.
- I wanted to mod right away, even though the car doesn't need to be touched
- With no turbo timer you have to sit in the car for a minute if you decided to make a last blast before parking.
- Anything less than the best gas is no longer an option for me.
- I goof off more at work reading these message boards.
The Evo8 is a very special car. I am very happy to own one.

Hey xpander, just sell that S already..
Seriously though, it sounds like the EVO is quickly becoming your dream car, and if you can find a way to get out of your S2000 lease without a huge hit to your wallet, then there's no reason you shouldn't get the car of your dreams..
The EVO was, and still is, my dream car, but my financial situation as well as the mean trick that dealer played on me was enough to keep me from taking one home... ah well, for now I'll just have to live vicariously through you guys...

I'm 6'5 so I can't even get my legs under the steering wheel of an S2000 so I can't compare the two, but . . .
I have a little over 300 miles and my biggest gripe is the damn Break-in period. It sems like it will never end!
I kind of miss the Interior features of ym GTI (heated seats, outside temp, better looking gauges, height adjustable seats, etc. . .) but I can easily survive w/o them, and I have much, much more room in the EVO.
I also think that the optional pedals should be standard on a $30,000+ car.
I never really used cruise control that much on my VW so I didn't know that it was missing from the EVO until today.
It would be nice if there was a turbo gauge, and the Speedo was a little larger.
Also, the rear wiper is the best working rear wiper I have ever used.
If you do buy an EVO you will definately NOT regret it!

Also, there were a lot of weird burning smells coming from the car fo rthe 1st 150 miles or so, that freaked me out a little, before I found out it was normal during the break-in Period.
The only thing i dont' like about the evo is the fact it has less power the the suby.. Now the suby has something to brag bout to their friends.. I wish the Evo came with a little hp, to just shut the doors on the Sti and force them to pack it up and close down shops
The things i hate:
1) paint is thin (chips are easily obtained)
2) the pull drops off after 5 K (easy to fix)
3) leaving the car alone in a parking lot....
other than that...there is nothing.

how is the long-term reliability/build quality on the evo line? Is it a car you can keep as long as you want, or is it a car that you drive hard then sell after a couple years? Does the car lose any reliability with say a stage 0 package? The honda is very simple n/a 2.0 4-cyl RWD. Very reliable. I'm not sayiing the evo isn't as reliable or even more so, but I just dont know enough on the matter. Never had any experience with mitsus. My father says they are not as reliable(long term) as honda, but then again the EVO is a special car.

As far as whats not good about it
1. Paint (can be fixed cost is high)
2. Cruise (not costly at all to fix)
3. Making sure no one is f*#@ing with it when it's alone
