Evo's Trade in/Resale Value [MERGED]
Call around and find a new left over 03 or an 04.
Be willing to go out of state to get it, and you will get a good deal.
A $150 plane ticket and a nice weekend (break-in) drive home might save ya 2-3k.

complete BS
It seems like i'm the only one who got a brand new 2004 evo for under $30,000. I got it with 8 miles on the clock parked in the back of the dealership. I think you guys need to do your homework before you buy a car... shop around. The next cheapest offer I got was $31,197. I spent my saturday from 9am to 9pm and went to 5 evo dealers. Sunday morning, made a call to the 1st dealership I went to and just said, "listen, here's the cheapest offer I got, can you beat it?" blah blah and I got my evo for $29,900 Out of the door with taxes and all that junk. Oh, and my evo is not an RS, it's an evo 8 with no sunroof, leather, sound package but has everything else. I think spending the Saturday shopping around and saving me a few thousand dollars was worth it, it might be a different story for you other folks.
Trust me when I say that dealers will go down if you really want the car and have a reasonable price. I mean, heck, who wouldn't want your $30,000? Looking at it from your angle, If I'm spending $30,000 I'll save every penny I can. I'm only 21 and the evo is my first brand new car, I didn't want to get jipped on my $30,000 purchase. Just my 2..laters

I love how you guys sit here and brag about good deals and tell people to pay less for a commodity that you own.... Way to depreciate all our cars; I am sure that feeling of being the person that is "in the know" rearding the best deals on evos will be well worth the thousands of dollars less you will get when you turn around to sell your car

It doesn't matter if he is telling people how to negotiate deals, it won't lower the resale of the cars. There are too many people willing to pay retail to affect the Evos value. Even if it did affect it, you go out and negotiate an even better deal. It's all about finding motivated sellers.
I can go out and find someone to sell me their house at 80% of its market value here in California. Do you think that would affect this crazy housing market? No, because most people don't know how to find motivated sellers...and I do. Just apply that concept to buying a car. You have to be willing to walk away from a deal, or you've all ready lost because what happens when the dealer won't go any lower? You have nowhere else to go in your negotiations.

Now, the person who asked if the price on a used evo is good or not, you decide for yourself comparing to other new evos. Don't give up yet buddy
My one tip at the end of my post, do your homework.

In Atlanta, I couldn't find one, so I bought one used.
14k miles at $25,000 at carmax. But it had sunroof and cruise control. Also, I've gotten new tires, new rim, clutch, front rotors and brake pads(coming soon). So i've saved a lot of money by buying at carmax. I really think their 30day warranty was a lifesaver.
You shouldn't pay more than $25,000 for it. Also, depends on the condition of the car and financing situation...

Obviously, local markets may vary, but in general, hold firm on your sales price and don't listen to people who think they can get new ones for $$$$ under dealer invoice.

Yep nice to see this. I wonder why people would let there cars go with only 20K miles for 24K. Hold out guys and keep the value of our cars up
Its nice to see that an unmolested car will retain its value pretty well.. <rant> I hate the lowballers who want to get the car cheap, then complain when they get lowballed themselves when they have to resell (After they have the car for a short period of time and realize they either can't afford it, or discover this is a high maintainance car after abusing the heck out of it.) </rant>

Don't believe everything you read .... the car is worth what the market says it is worth ... ie what someone is willing to pay for it .... I mean why you would anyone pay what you ask when they can get a brand new one for about $28,000 (few thousand more) .... but what the hell do I know!?!
