So, i removed the plastic around the steering and i sa that the switch moves slightly and i saw the spark in the switch beneath.

Now i just have to get a screwdriver who will fit in, cause the dash is in the way, so another trip to home depot for a screwdriver who bends

Had this same dilemma with the two wires. I actually tied the wires wrong so i had to re do everything again because the car would not start. So after looking at what was posted above i then did the same. But when i did that i crossed the wires so when i started the car i heard a noise coming from the starter lower area so I quickly took the terminals off the battery. So i then changed the wires around and the car started up on the dime. I have to go back to the garage to finish up the job. Will keep everyone posted.

So i took the connections from the relay off and started the car without it and i get no noise no nothing.

It's Like once i shut the car off the battery is still giving the starter power.

Tried using the Cigarette lighter as another source but no luck seems like that's not a good spot

Unfortunately I could not continue with this set up. For some reason after fixing the issue the right way i seem to be getting power to the starter as soon as i pull the 30 to bat+ it then stops.

That cannot happen unless something elsewhere is screwed up such that pin 85 has power full time (should have power only when starting), or the relay is wired incorrectly. So long as the starter circuit functions and the relay is wired correctly, what you describe cannot happen.

What I suggest you do is disconnect pins 85 and 86. Keep 87 wired to the starter, and then connect 30 to the BAT +. You should not hear the starter engage. If you do, either you (a) have a bad relay, or (b) are confusing pin 87a with 87. There are only finite possibilities.

If you do this and the starter does not engage as expected, then you check what you wired to 85. That should only be energized when the starter is engaged by turning the key with clutch depressed, and should not get power at any other time.

Update on my fix - It's been a month now since I replaced the Key switch and starter relay:

My car has started reliably ever since - WELL Worth the $50 Amazon purchases.

So I posted this thread yesterday: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...errerid=222804

but after doing a search, I may be having the same problem, I wouldn't classify it as intermittent since we have never been able to get it to start..but haven't tried 30 times in a row to start it. I can't get it to turn over by putting the ignition switch in my hand though.

The factory starter solenoid is grounded to the starter with a strap at one of its two large terminals (the other is B+), and the starter case is grounded via contact with the engine/transmission.
