I just put S3s in mine. I'll be getting with Tom at the end of the week or next week to adjust my tune. I've got a couple bugs I'm trying to resolve. The thing is, you said your car ran fine for a while. The cam lobes are fixed so there is nothing that would have changed.

Yes sir. There are a few people around here running S3s on the IX. Here's one example.

Dowel pins on the cams are straight up. (hard to tell on MIVEC gear) The crankshaft should have the mark on the harmonic damper lined up with the "T" mark on the plastic cover.

The cam gear timing marks line up with the valve cover. On the MIVEC gear, the valve cover mark will line up on the mark that is actually between the teeth. For the exhaust, the valve cover timing mark will line up with an actual tooth on the cam gear that has the mark. I always paint the timing marks on the valve cover, cam gears, and harmonic damper with a white paint pen for quick verification.

timing is right.. it never moved. i'm not sure why he's questioning the timing when i was at his house and physically checked it myself with him, and even explained to him how to tell the notch on the crank pulley lined up with the T.

I know hes just trying to find the issue and is very frustrated, as i would be as well.. but when something is right you dont want to convince yourself its wrong and go backwards in progress.

I told him to pull the compressor pipe off the turbo.. because the car did go full rich when this issue appeared at the strip.

The more i think about it, the more i think it may be just the crank angle sensor now.. that needs replaced anyways because it was cut and resoldered by someone that previously worked on his car before i assembled his new setup.

i have not gotten the chance to get the car yet, so i have no more info other then what i know when i was there about a month ago.

yea im not sure. im just trying to find the issue. and it seems like everyone i talk to has never heard of a issue like this switch makes it extremely frustrating to me atleast.

I just hate spending money when we are guessing to see if that fixes it.

that is what Tom is thinking. I does have the symptoms but i alway thought if it was even faulty it would throw a CEL due to being a major sensor in the car.
