Evo vs. STI | Anything and Everything [ALL THREADS MERGED]
I got the 7 yr. b2b. What the hell, its only money, right?
Congrats on ur test drive of the EVO. I LOVE mine. If you want the comfy ride get the RX8. The 8 gets attention like the EVO, has 1/2 the turning radius, RWD (read fun to drift), and smooth as silk. Not for me though.

It really is is a toss up. The payment difference is not significant between the two (if $25 to $50/month is a big difference to you then you should not get either car because you probably can't afford them). It comes down to personal preference. I'm happy just to have the choice.
If Thedread was responding to me, I'd have to disagree with you. It's not an affordability issue, it's a question of value. For a $4,500 price difference, you're talking about significant amount of modifications you could perform for the same amount of money. If I value them equally, why would I pay $4,500 extra just because I can afford to.
Drove both, and the Evo was far and away the better drive. There was no question once I drove them. Definitely not gonna pay more for the car that didn't seem better in any respect in the test drive.
To this day, I still went with the Evo mostly because it has the driving experience I was looking for. I think if the STi got similar handling reviews as the Evo did, I might of jumped ship.
But it didn't..
But it didn't..
Just drove an Sti and after a drive in an Evo, declare the Evo the more athletic of the two. I loved the STi roll-on power and the high-quality "feel" that was a carryover from my WRX but it felt less alive in it's responses.
My decision will likely come down to price and perceived reliability. As much as I wish that nagging sensation would go away, my gut tells me that I'll have fewer problems long-term with the Sti. But, if I can surpress that feeling and get one of these deals for $2 - $3K less than I can find any STi for, Evo it is.
Dammit, wish I'd never seen those pictures of rusty bumper mounting points!
