Don't get me wrong, I love my EVO but not to the point that it's worth 37k of love for a Mitsu. Maybe I am just getting old. I almost have to agree with the BMW owners about the EVO, that is.... I really don't want or need the attention from the ricers. After all, most of the attention that we EVO owner get are from ricers. No flames please, just my own opinion and not yours.

most have probably already spent 37k on their evo, if it is modded up. If anything you would get more respect with a MR from non-ricers because it is a better model evo, as oppose to a regular evo with mods. Ricers im sure love evo's, but say a m3 is next to you, im sure that guy is thinking damn that car can kick my ***, not man thats a cheap rice car. I think the evo in general demands more respect than your avg rice car no matter what car the other guys got. If that guy ever pick up a magazine and read something on the evo or the M.R. edition=Mitsubishi Racing edition, he knows its function: PERFOMANCE, not leather, navi, heated seats, and an overpriced manufacturer..............................2cents

what does this gsr stand for? and how come its not shown on any of the new models to buy?

The "GSR" is the japanese domestic market name for the regular Evo VIII.

In japan there are three trims: RS, GSR, MR. In the US there are three trims as well, but only two have names: RS, MR. So everybody calls the regular Evo the "GSR".

actually...
if a guy has a m3, or mercedes, or any car that costs wayyy more than a evo, the guy is probably thinking, 'haha, he paid a crapload for a rougher ride, no navi, no leather seats, and couldn't even break 12's in under 91 decibals. I could of bought it, but it'd be a waste of money.' Most of those guys probably grew out of the stripped out hondas running 12 sec 1/4's that's loud and give headaches. Rather they'd buy a 13 sec luxury car out of the box.
Think about it, a E55amg automatic next to a evo. Sorry man, E55 amg wins hands down in pimp factor, and overall class.

So you guys won't be paying tax on the 05 GSRs
When we get the MSRP for the 05s, then lets compare accurate prices (including taxes) for both. This is still all speculation, the more common estimates now seem to be just under 35. I'm thinking that 05 GSRs will break 30k with the improvements. There are no doubt at least 5k worth of upgrades and standard options on the MR, it really is just what it is worth to you.

Thats your opinion, im not really into bmw and mercedes, I want a performance car and if you compare the m3 to the evo MR edition, the m3 will lose in every category except ergonomics, which is not important to me. You spend 50g's on an M3 and it will lose to a 35k mitsubishi, and the M-series is bmw's racing edition, which is weak on the track. E55amg automatic is a nice car,not my style, but its automatic and has no performance upgrades, you buy an evo and thats just the platform, so much potential to make it fast, just a few bolt ons and tuning and its going to be fast. Im young and going to enjoy my youth, if i had a lot of money the e55 amg grandfathermatic would not even be on my list of cars to have.

Completely agree with yu. I was a big ONLY GERMAN CARS fanatic untill I realized the BMW and MB are just way to overrated. They think their cars are worth so much just b/c of the stupid EMBLEM, WHO CARES, people who buy BMW and MB have a social status problem that like to be better than other. I still respect VW/AUDI but definetly HATE MB and BMW 2nd. Look at the some prices MB puts on their cars. E55 starts $80k and does't even include xenons. New C55 (M3, S4 comparison) starts at $55k, NO XENONS, NO CD, NO RAIN SENSOR, add $5k if yu want all that. My point at these prices, all the stuff should be included. EVO is by far THE BEST CAR FOR THE MONEY

Ralliart homologated ACD and SAYC for group N cars so they will be using the production based active diffs. All competitive WRC cars have active differentials.

Just imagine what kind of a machine you could have for 5G worth of mods.
I would buy a 05 VIII before the '04. Very close in price better turbo, torsen front, ACD. They remove HIDs and water spray. I would also take an '05 VIII over an '05 STi. Plus the '05 include a period of free maintenance. The MR over a '05 VIII is harder to choose but I am going with the MR. Seen plenty of modded cars that are not as good as stock.

I got my 04 last month so I got the free maintenance. Also, because it is so close to the 05's coming out, I was able to get my VIII with the leather package for $1500 below invoice(29500..invoice is 31000). Doubt I could get the dealers to come down on the 05's until this time next yer.

Regular evo 8's will be sold cheap to 16 year olds that just got their drivers licenses, like how dsm's were.

then, mitsu will release rumors of a new EVO MR type R edition 232432432 with AYC!

Then the rumors, hype and all the MR vs. MR with AYC threads will begin.
lol, then all the MR owners that pre-ordered it and paid an arm and a leg will get pissed, because the new 0x MR's with AYC just costs a few thousand more which by now is around the 40k range... screw a z06 or a c6! (i'd have a z06 over an evo any day)

and let the c@ck envy begin again...

i'm happy with my gsr evo i paid under MSRP for...
and my econonmics prof predicted that gas prices will be up to upper 3 lower 4 dollars at the end of the decade. I definately hope that's not true
Call it what you want but there will be 1200 MRs max, thats it end of story. The target for Evo VIIIs was 6000 and they brought over 5700. That is pretty limited. There are no options on the MR at all, with only 1000 or so to be sold it makes no sense.

Taxes from which state?

Just use MSRP.

Trust me...money is not the issue here. I am not going to brag about how much I make but to me......I will not pay $37 for a . So again, if I haven't bought the EVO, I still wouldn't buy the MR. I just think that your comment about "who wouldn't" is not true. Because clearly there are people that have not gotten an EVO and they will decide to get the GSR instead of the MR not because of the price...but because of other things such as they want sunroof or leather or whatever else. So to answer your comment of "who wouldn't", those that haven't gotten the EVO but still chooses the GSR over the MR wouldn't. Again that is just my opinion and no one elses. I apologize if I seem to come off as a ahole, but I am just trying to get my point across.

I am not getting all this. My stock EVO destroys a stock WRX, so the mags test it against the STI. Those 2 are even, the MR is the yuppie version of the EVO, hehehe. Just my 02 cents...
