INSTALL: oil pressure and temperature senders
#76
Im new at this I always just research or figure out things on my own, but i tried and I i'm lost. Im working on a 04 evo I installed a PF2 green turbo so my feed line is connected to the bottom bolt off the filter adapter. My question is; would i be OK installing my pressure sender off the top bolt or is there any other way?
please any ideas would help. thank you guys.

I have hooked the pressure sensor on the block in place of the factory oil sensor and moved the factory one to the side of the head (removing the existing screw, the same as on the oil filter housing).
That's much more important place to monitor the pressure.
At idle I would recommend to keep around 30psi. 20 is way too low.
The best place for sensing a temperature would be oil pan (needs a welded nut for bolting a sensor).

..finally got some pics
here is the place where I moved a factory oil pressure sender:
aftermarket sender installed in place of the factory one:
I had one additional pressure sensor with gauge laying around, so decided to hook it up to the head (note I have SAS disabled, it's valve, tubing and the mounting plate removed):
balance shafts are removed, bearings rotated and oil pressure reduced with an additional washer over the pressure regulating valve.
Oil: motul 300V 15w50
Pressure at idle (engine at operating temperature) -
Block: 1.9-2.0 bar (27-29 psi)
Head: 1.3-1.4 bar (19-20 psi)

threads are already in there, factory machined, just tapped with allen screws..
there are 4 screws on the head if i'm not mistaken.
you can actually install a factory sender with no modification.
For an aftermarket sensor you need either SAS (EGR) and its components removed or a suitable extension piping installed.
