To be honest, I never finished my build. I've been spending money on brakes and track time.

I did end up buying a samco intake tube that I was going to cut-up to see if I could make it work. If not, then I was going to go the same route as everyone else and use the OMG and the stock arm.

+1

If I recall, they had been sourcing them from the same manufacturer.

I picked up a second air box just for that very reason, but I haven't gotten around to installing my Perrin intake. I cut up the air box, but was going to cut it more as needed and fab up a custom OEM looking bracket (since I think you'll lose one of the OEM ones to make it fit) to make it work with the Perrin filter.

If you could blaze that trail, that would be awesome.

I tried. It kind of fit, but wasn't very convincing. It sat much higher than stock, and I sure as hell didn't fool the smog tech who said it looked "jerry rigged." Not that I expected it to, I just tried for ****s and giggles. I can try to post pictures but I can honestly tell you, you won't really want to bother if you saw the pics of my attempt. then again, I was missing a few of the stock mounting pieces, have the silicone intake tube and aluminum filter mount, and was in a hurry, so maybe yours will turn out better. I would be more inclined to try to find a bigger stock sirbox from another vehicle and try with that one. I think others who have tried said the same.

You mean jury rigged? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jury_rig

Smog techs are pretty savvy for sure, especially since they often see lots of cars running illegal modifications. To me, I want it to look OEM enough to not draw attention to the intake underneath. That means it has to be just enough so a CHP officer glances over it and doesn't think about it.

I would love to see some pictures of your attempt. Looking at pictures of a Perrin intake and filter installed and where it sits versus the OEM filter box makes me think that the tip of the intake will have to protrude out the side of the box on the driver's side.
