I used the evomoto write up and didn't have any problems. It shows everything to take off and is pretty F'in great. LOL. Definately take off the crossmember. I didn't completely remove the transfer case, but I just pushed it up out of the way and braced it so it wouldn't move and that was probably the best way to do it.

Joe, Do you recon that this write up can be applied to an Evo VI as well? Or do you feel Evo VI clutch replacement steps will be a lot different?

Thanks
D.

Hey guys,

I just installed my new clutch and everything went pretty smooth. I have everything back in the car and I fired it up tonight to see if everything was working correctly,.......... it's not.

My shifter linkage is where I have a problem. If you take it out of gear, the shifter dosen't want to return to center. If you move it left or right and let go of it, it just stays there, feels kind of stiff. It also will not engage into any other gear but 1st (I think it's first).

I'm thinking that I must have done something wrong on hooking my cables back up, but I think they are correct. I really think that part of my problem is this little white plastic piece. I don't think that it is on how it should be and I can't figure the little bastard out. LOL Could someone please post a pic of how their's is on their car or a diagram or something would be great. I've attached a pic of mine earlier in the thread so you can see how it is. It's wrong I'm pretty sure.

This is the only thing keeping me off of the road and it's killing me. I'm not positive this is what's causing my problem so please feel free to off other ideas to check. I appreciate anything you guys can help me with. Thanks in advance.

i don't know for sure, but i'd say the steps for a VI would be closer to the steps for clutch replacement in a DSM or galant VR-4 since their engine/tranny is more similar than the VIII or IX.

If the white plastic piece does not sit right then you may have bent the shift brackets that the cables bolt to. You may be able to bend it back although your best bet is to try to get it warrantied or to but the new assembly.

I have never seen a Vi in person although the extensive underhood pictures I have seen tells me it should be VERY similar. Best of luck and please note the differences here.

LOL Joe, you were right man. That linkage was bent. I took it off and looked at it and you could see a little bend. Nothing that a vice and hammer couldn't fix. Will probably order a new one next week just in case. Thanks for the tip man. Should have never doubted ya.

Only blue locktite on the flywheel to crank bolts. Everything else just put back together.

No grease on the axles. They will get lubrication from grease in the case.
