Evo VIII Build in The Mitten State
Went to Cars & Coffee with David last weekend:

Progress has been a bit slow lately, but at least the car is running well. I picked up a pair of Ganador mirrors and a genuine OEM vortex generator and dropped off both items at the body shop on Friday. If they're done in time, I'll probably put them on the car for Import Alliance down in Kentucky this weekend.

I've been iffy on these things in the past, but I'll probably end up using it...

(Having it painted body color):

I got the engine bay cleaned up over the weekend and installed my Tomei exhaust manifold shield:

Not quite exciting as it once was, but it gets the job done! lol:

Not much else to report! Saving up and deciding on which Voltex wing to buy while racking up the miles. The car suffered a huge rock chip to the windshield from a gravel truck last week, so it'll go in for a new windshield later this week too.

^ Of course! haha
I took some time to get the car cleaned up last night and change the oil before heading down to Import Alliance in Kentucky tonight. I got my Ganador mirrors and OEM vortex generator back from paint, so I decided to install those as well. Pretty happy with it! I think once the wing is on the Ganadors will look even better.

Changing up the front bumper/lip in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully the wing will not be too far behind!

Omg this brings a tear to my eye. Thank you for building her up again. This used to be my car, when I had it, it had full bolt ons, AMS 2.3 stroker/Oliver rods (brand new block, I had blown the original that was on fp red and e85), FP black, e85, kw coil overs, CCW LM's, alternating with Volk CE28n's, exedy twin HD clutch and a lot more that I'm forgetting. I believe it was stripped down and returned to stock by the 2nd owner.... Anyways I'm over joyed to see my old car being well cared of. I loved that car. It made 577AWHP and 547AWTQ at that time.. I'll see if I can dig up some old pics of her to post up
Thanks guys!
Dr. SS- I'd love to see some of your old photos of the car! I found one with a picture of the car next to your R35, but the rest of your photos were broken image links.
I love to learn as much as I can about my cars' histories! Thanks for checking in.
As for updates, I don't have a ton to report at the moment. I sold my 9 front bumper setup and Voltex lip and the replacement will be here at the beginning of next week. I'll be sure to post detailed pics when everything is buttoned up again. I'll be picking up some Evo IX dash trim from a friend this weekend.
Here are some recent pics from my trip down to Import Alliance:

ok so i dug up some old pics, i have literally 100s of pics, from all the projects the car went though i just picked out a few.
i bought the car in Tulsa oklahoma from don carlton mistsubishi, in 3/2005. it was a brand new and unregistered 2003, with 60-70 miles on the clock, just sat and was never bought. it had the shorty wing and a sunroof. ill post some pics of when it was brand new at the dealer. I also still have its original window sticker, and id be happy to mail it to you if you are interested.
first the car got bolt on mods, namely TBE exhaust, BR intake, GSC cams (old school, way before S1's), and was tuned using a mail in tune by that al friedman guy, dynoflash i think it was called. there after i added a FP green turbo to it, and larger injectors and a walbro twin in tank pump
drove it like that got some bronze ce28n, had a blast in it, added some more bolt ons, cant remember what really, and then upgraded to a FP RED turbocharger, again on stock bottom end, around this time, i added a exedy twin HD clutch. from oklahoma, the car spend alot of time in indiana, and missouri. was in missouri for 3 years, and in indiana for 1-2 years, and then obviously in illinois, and now with you in michigan!
while on the FP red, i converted the car to E85, if i remember correctly it made 450 awhp and 415 awtq on 30 psi. at about i want to say 50,000 miles i broke a connecting rod.
pulled that motor and sent the car to AMS performance, that put in a brand new AMS 2.3 liter stroker motor with oliver rods, and upgraded to a FP black, and car tuned put down 577 AWHP and 547 AWTQ @ 35 psi, and pretty much could kill anything on the street..
i maintained it meticulously, i corrected the paint once a year, kept it clayed all the time, pressure washed the undercarriage all the time, on yes, and i also had KW V3 street spec tuned by ROBISPEC on the car. i had volks powdercoated mercury silver, i had my brembos powdercoated, and i added giro disc 2 piece rotors, stainless lines, the hats on the girodiscs were red, and had my name etched on them. I sold the car with those mods, and looks like all that stuff was stripped and removed from the car. i added the AMS down pipe and resonated test pipe shortly before selling it, the megan catback is from 2005, and car was still on stock transfer case and transmission
i never launched the car. not once believe it or not. thats probably the only 2003 that was never launched, atleast while i had it, it never had been. im adding some pics below
