The official Evo X notchy/grinding transmission thread
Mine does the samething. You should take note the way you hold your knob wich position give you a better shift. I found that if i hold my knob side way let say from 1 to 3 oclock it would go in little notchy when cold but when it warm butter smooth. But if i hold it at top of the knob i would grind everytime cold or warm. And to me the hard i pull to 2nd and push to 3 the smoother it get. It like to shift hard for some reason.
***A side note*** if anyone here hear or feel like something pop when you shifting check the shifter cables. It happent to me when i shift i feel like something poping out took me some time to figure it out. So finally pull the panels out and drove from to work and finally found that the cable slid out and in off the bracket. A good way to test it while parking shift to each gear and push down on the black piece that slide on the base repeat each gear until you find. I just zip tie it down and niose went away and shift alot smoother.

I am very surprised that Mits has not rectified this issue after so many years. I was hoping it was going to be a breakin thing but 3200 mi, and I am still having have grinding between 2nd and 3rd, but also have trouble getting it into first at red lights, and in reverse.
Guess I will have to go back through this thread and make a list of the best options. If I recall my reading before a new clutch and STS is in order?

I just bought my 2014 Evo X last week, and have noticed the "rough" shifting even when the car is relatively cool/warm (idling for about 3-4 minutes in 30-40° weather), prerty much like all the standard cars I've driven. Third seems to be a little resistant when the car is babied through the gears and the RPM's are not revved around 3,500-4,000. Double clutching seems to help the shifting smoother. Like Level100 said, she seems to like when you're aggressive with the shifting, but haven't tested it out enough to say for sure.
I had recently posted about my reverse gear grinding on a brand new car (<24hrs of purchase). I took it back to the dealership and their service shop put in an order for a new transmission same day. The service manager said he had to call the Mitsubishi tech line to see what they wanted to do about it, and they recommended a whole new transmission. I should have it within the next week or so. Maybe others can request a new transmission as well?
Yes, the issues I had were with 1st into 2nd, getting into reverse and going back into 1st. I have to fight/ play around with it for it to finally go. usually double clutching seemed to help but shouldn't need to do that. I want to try flushing the fluid like someone said in an earlier post.

Legit.. me too... I got the car around mid OCT. It's still under warranty so wouldn't hurt, just might need to leave it for a day or 2 which stinks.. my car is in the shop now, but only because someone wanted to use my trunk to slow down... but I want to change the fluid 1st before I bring it in to see if that helps. but either way should be covered.

yeah im glad im not the only one in this situation. I feel almost like im doing something wrong when it doesnt work, but i mean what else can you do when you're already on the clutch lol. but I do see that double clutching it does work. so for now try that out to not grind, but let us know any outcomes. good luck mayte!
I took my car for a spin right now and this is what I got, only with 2nd gear.
WOT- 2nd notchy
Normal 3500 to 4k - very notchy
Parked and passive shifting, guiding the stick - a pause going in and I have to push it in.
From reading a couple of the threads its just a Mitsu thing?

So I went to the dealer today and they told me there was nothing they can really do because the car is in the break in period phase. The tech told me the break in period ends at about 15k to 20k ( Can anyone verify this)? He also told me that in the 13-14 the bushings connected to the transmission lines are soft and thats why its so damn notchy/clunky/ you name it. He advised me to go with some solid aftermarket bushings to get rid of the issue.
