Just got my 13 Evo X last month brand new, and this is the worst shifter in any manual car i have driven. I am getting all new bushings and a short shifter installed, hopefully that minimizes the issue.

Ha ha, I feel the same way. I'm gonna get all of the bushings and change the tranny fluid and just leave the stock shifter, see how it feels then.

I've done the redline cocktail and since done the aluminum bushings shifter and tranny. It's smoothed some of it out but I think part of it is just the gears and synchros themselves. After all the reason the new evo is only 5 gears rather than 6 is due to all the beefing up they did to the gears and such, I've come to the conclusion that the notching is a side effect... One that I can live with if my trans holds up to abuse better

Had to push the visit to the dealer back to next Tuesday due to personal issues but hopefully they will fix it. Lady asked if I wanted to do a ride along and I said H*** YES!!! So we'll see how they treat it. My back up plan is that I ordered the AMS tranny fluids today, so if the dealer is reluctant then I will give that a shot. For owning the car less than 2 weeks they better get their s*** together and fix the problem.

mshilto89, please let us know if they actually do anything with your issue or even if they just give you any information. Seems like no one has had ANY luck getting a dealership to do anything to fix it.

Went in this morning and the tech told me it was normal and that it would get better in warmer weather.... I did notice it shifted a little better today, temp got up above 60 degrees F. Still notchy as all heck though. For now I'm going to replace the transmission fluid with OEM Diaqueen fluid and if that doesn't do anything I'm gonna go with amsoil GL-4, and if THAT doesn't solve it, I'm gonna go with the Redline cocktail. Other than that, no resolution at this time...

45k miles on my car and owned it since new. No real issues here. I've driven manual most of my life. Sometimes reverse is hard to engage when the car is cold and I can grind and gear here and there but if you don't think that's normal you haven't been driving manual. My previous car was an RSX Type S and that thing grinder 3rd gear every time.

I've always owned manuals, the grinding is not normal just because it's a manual.

I've had swapped CRX's, S2000, Mustang GT, the Accord I learned to drive on, anyone else's manual car I've driven, none grind 2nd and 3rd like my EVO wants to do.

We'll see what happens after some bushings and fluids.

I drove a '00 S2000 for a while also. It always grinded 3rd. Every car is different though I guess. My X trans is butter smooth, so I don't know. Only a little pop when going into each gear and that's it. Only time I grind is my error when I don't push the clutch in in time.

Gotcha, I had an 04 AP2 S2000. Shifted smooth as butter even before putting in Redline MTL

I think my X is already a little better after putting some miles on her. Hopefully the fluid change will take care of the rest.

The first 5k miles I had the car the transmission was weird for me. I've had my X for 45k miles so far now and no transmission issues other than the reverse being hard to engage sometimes. I still have the original clutch too. I guess if you want to speed up the break-in of the trans you could replace the fluids and see what happens, sounds good . I used to be a Honda guy lol. I drove the S2k for a while, than I had a cammed DC2 GS-R and than a 06 RSX-S. I only now have some idle issue with my X I need to solve lol.

Gotcha, that's good to hear that it gets better with some miles on it. I think in the next week or two I'll steal a lift at my Dad's shop and swap some fluids out. See what it's like after that. I also want to check the transfer case, just make sure it's not overfilled.

Yeah always loved the Hondas. Accord, two CRX's, CBR954, S2000. Problem is that I've owned 4 Hondas and 3 were stolen. Time to move on at that point, ha ha. Almost considered another S2000 but they're just too easy to steal and South FL is bad for that crap.

Okay, let me know if it makes a difference. Even though mine is okay, improving it still wouldn't hurt. Specially after 45k miles now.

At 4500 miles took it back to the dealer again and they agreed something was wrong. Waiting for district manager to approve replacing the transmission. I'm selling it immediately after being fixed. Sucks. Put a bad taste for Evos in my mouth.
