Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
Too bad by the time it makes it to production it probably won't look anything like that. You know the 4 point harnesses won't make it and they will probably loose the Recaros in the back. I'd be impressed if they would have some type of sculpted rear seat instead the flat bench seats we have in the rear now.
There's another post about LancerRegister.com and their ConceptX coverage. hang on. I was reading the Tokyo Auto Show brochure mitsu put out.

it really makes me wonder why they put that elaborate engine cover on. either they are hiding something or they are attempting to stimulate interest by creating mystery. I wonder what this big bump near the back of the cover is?

From just reading of car rags, it seems Mitsubishi is planning on the use of a Chrysler based platform, not only that, but I just feel that Mitsubishi, without a real Luxory sports division may plan on converting our beloved Rally Car to a mere Luxory Sport car like a IS300. The hint of a longer wheelbase, wider stance, and an automatic kinda hint at that. I feel they may try to globalize the name Evolution in a way that is not Rally based as it is now. I feel that with the poor showings in the Rally curcuit this year and in the past couple of years, they may try to creat a new image. Who Knows. I am a WRC fan, thus enjoy Rally machines, regardless who makes them. I have always like the chiseled lines of the EVO vs. the rounded other makes. I am glad I picked up a IX when I did, I feel we may all be dissapointed in the X. Hate to say it, but think about it....how can Mits survive on the EVO's alone? TIme will tell.....Take Care all..............Again, buy one now, because I feel the Rally in the Rally car may be on its way out the window................at least for us here in the USA. Later Guys and Gals

As far as the rediculousness of the Concept X, everyone should just calm down. It is barely going to look like that car. Hence the "Concept" designation. Almost everything comlained about on here will never reach production, look at any other concept car.
For the last friggin' time, it won't be half Dodge. Mitsubishi developed the next gen platform for the Lancer and DCX is licensed to use it for their small cars. The world engine was codeveloped by DCX, Hyundai and Mitsu, but like was said earlier, each manufacturer will have their own plants to build their own versions of the engine. Hyundai uses Mitsu bottom ends right now, Mitsubishi has supported Chrysler's small program since the 70's. The Evo will be 100% Mitsubishi. Whatever halfbreeds will have Chrysler and maybe Hyundai nameplates on them.
The engine cover is for better aerodynamics. Like it or not, this is the direction design is going.

But my point remains the same...the Evo X could have a LOT worse of a cousin.
There is no such thing as a 6.1L Viper engine. GM and Chrysler do not share engines. The only place to find a 8.0L V-10 Viper engine is under the hood of Dodge Viper or a Dodge SRT-10 Ram pickup. The CTS-V uses the 6.0 LS2 like Firehawk said, a GM engine.

If the exterior of the X ends up looking like the concept when it finally hits production, I will be one of the first in line. My only MAJOR concern right now is the DSG. I've put about 5000 miles on my A3 which has DSG, and it has a few shortcomings for spirited driving (both in manual and automatic mode). Hopefully the X will be better...
