Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
The unibodies are similar at the core but they are different. The Evo is a widebody style. The rear quarters are part of the unibody (and not just bolt ons like the front fenders or doors) are substantially wider than the regular Lancer. I wonder if they come out of the same plant? In addition the unibody underside is different to accomodate AWD. There is no space under a regular Lancer for a driveshaft and rear differential. I agree that they start with the ancer platform but when Mitsu is done designing the Evo, the cars are radically different. Ever seen anyone convert a Lancer into an Evo? Won't happen. Turbocharging yes, but not a full Evo drivetrain.

And, Im pretty sure the interior will change.
One thing I really dont like is: "This powerplant will mate to a clutchless six-speed auto/manual transmission, reportedly able to swap cogs at the blink of an eye, slicker and more efficient than any manual. The driver will be able to select gears via the steering wheel-mounted paddles."
Clutchless? I gotta have mah clutch! Mits is transforming the Evo just like they did with the 2Gen eclipse witch were the best Gen of eclipses till this day (in my opinion)

Maybe I have no right hear to voice my opinion, but my ONLY ***** about the evo line it's not aggressive looking, or exotic or even that sporty (no offense to ANYONE, I would still buy one base ONLY on it's performance) but I like the direction the concept is going. Who knows what it will really look like....

But I also really like the concept and hope its a glimpse as to where the whole Econo super car genre is headed.
The Mitsubishi Motors Tokyo Motorshow mini-site has some nice technical info on the S-AWC
is going to use on the EVO X. There is a two page slide to explain the system, as well as a video in Japanese (still cool, even though most of us can't understand). They show how S-AWC improves handling versus the EVO IX.
Click on the link, then select "New Generation Technology" and then "S-AWC".

S-AWC sounds niice, but it's too bad it probably won't be standard on U.S. Evos; maybe, it'll show up as a high-priced option on a $40K Evo.
Cams For New Evo IX???
Just wondering what the anticipated time of HKS cams will be. Mainly asking the dealers who work with them and know what is going on. Will it be within the next 6 months, or will it take longer?

Further, this time around
is developing the EVO with global prospects in mind from the ground up (not just retro-fitting the existing car). Therefore, chances are we may finally get "everything".Call me foolish or a hopeless optimist if you want...

I really hope we finally get an EVO and not just a USDM port.
