EVOM3
The Speed 6 is awesome, it is AWD, although fully Auto, unlike the Evo where you select Tarmac, Gravel or snow on the ACD, the Speed 6 does it automatically, which is pretty cool, the seats aren't quite as supportive as the recaros, but they do their job, I had wanted an Evo for so long that I wanted the best of both worlds, the speed 6 is a cross between the Evo and STI in my book, just not as powerful as either, although 274 hp is plenty for what I need.
The things to be aware of are as follows
1st to 2nd gear is kind of notchy, and I have spoken with a few Speed 6 owners and they have said the same thing, boost drops off rather quick just after 5000 rpm, probably a dynoflash would cure that, not too many parts available right now, oh and the wheels are fairly narrow, 215/45/18 with Bridgestone potenza tires, still looking at $200 per tire, maintenance I am expecting to be similar to the Evo.
I will eventually get an Evo X when it finally comes out, after all the teething problems are worked out with the new engine and so forth.
But yeah after getting the Speed 6, going back to a regular vehicle sucks.

gsnt
your absolutely right, it is aimed at a totally different market, but there are similarities, the Evo and STI paved (pioneered) the way for other auto makers.
So for starters gsnt YOU need to stop putting your p*ssy on a pedestal
as far as I'm concerned I want a car that has all the stuff that is supposed to be on a car of $30,000 of more, HID's 6 speed gearbox, AWD, auto climate, cruise so on and so on, so that is what I spent my hard earned money on,
I couldn't justify spending $34,000 to $37,000 on a SSL or a MR,
which is the only model I wanted, and only available in 4 colors, yeah I could have spent $33,000 on an STI but who the hell likes the front end on the 06's I certainly don't.
Which is why I went with the speed 6, I happen to like everything about the car.
and I am comfortable with my purchase.
oh what is that I hear you say, it isn't an evo, no I know it isn't an evo and it will never be, but right now I don't have to worry about where I park my car and I don't have to worry about haters, or the honda, SRT4, Subie crowd, my insurance is pretty cheap, right now, I don't have to worry if Mitsu is going to void my warranty over something trivial.
I don't ever plan to track or race my car, I already know what my car is capable of so what if it takes 1 sec more to get to 60mph, I am not out to try and prove a point.
it is a fairly exclusive, only a certain number are being made, and finally when it came down to it, it was all about customer service, the Mazda dealer treated me right, not like the mitsu dealers, oh look it is just another sucker come to look at an Evo, what kind of attitude is that and believe me I went to a quite a few dealers, I was even contemplating on getting an Evo shipped from Cali. just to get a deal, but I want to see the car that I am about to buy.
but one thing I do know is the speed 6 can hold it's own, if it has to.
MMNA needs to make sure that they bring over the full spec Evo X if they ever want my money, so tired of gripeing over the small crap and I am sure I am not the only one.
that is one of MMNA mistakes they made by changing the trim levels from the rest of the world. The GG MR should have been exclusive to the VIII only

Don't get too worked up over the pound to USD conversion here..there are different rates of taxation and equipment. For instance, the Cayman S runs 43,930 British Sterling which translates into $77, 171 USD (approx) based on Friday's exchange rate. But we all know the Cayman S sells for $58,900 here in the states.
Given that logic, and assuming the 35,000 british sterling pound figure is correct, I'd say the X will be about the same price it is now. But hey, we're assuming
