Ive seen vids on that trans going up against a car with 20+ more horsepower. That trans just shifts sooooo much faster and plus it keeps pulling while the guy with the clutch is still shifting. Check it out if your a real performance person, you may be surprised. Hell if i do decide to get an evo my next time out ill probly get one with a paddle shifter instead.
Cool, did you see the part right after that where the GTI MT beat the GTI DSG on the roadcourse?

I did check it out, it is a great system but I was bored after 5 minutes and felt like I was playing a bad videogame. I want to shift my car, I want to be rewarded for driving well and punished for driving poorly, I want to rocket down a straight and downshift from 5th to 2nd for the sharp turn at the end of it, I want to be able to modulate my speed through a turn like no computer will ever be able to do for me.

What if a car could steer itself around a track faster than any human could, would you think that makes it better? I want to be involved, I love driving and I love shifting through gears. I have no problems with being human and knowing mistakes will occur. I'll have a hell of a lot more fun making those mistakes than the guy pushing his cold sweaty little button attached to his steering wheel. In fact DSG works so well there's absolutely no reason to even use the buttons. Driving at the track will be just like swifter drive through your neighborhood, oh joy!

Don't get me wrong, it's a great system, but I'll take mine manual please.

I believe some one stated, quite correctly, in the linked thread that 2007 requires all cars sold in the US to have side impact airbags standard. It would be VERY expensive to tool up that change to the current Evo for one year.

i'll believe it when MNA officially anounce it
i just dont think they can afford to not sell evo for a whole year, i mean arent they losing a **** load of money even with evos selling like hot cakes right now? but i supposed this makes my decision on getting a 9 easier this summer, trade it for an X in 3 years(since i dont want the first batch with all the bugs)

I don't believe it's the side air bags that matter. The frontal air bags must conform to the new advanced air bag standard which just so happens to be mandatory for all vehicles manufactured on or after September 1, 2006.

That doesn't make any sense, unless Mitsubishi forecast the estimate sales for 2007, and ending production in 2006 to compensate.

It's true. There will be a uncomfortably long sales gap between EVO IX and X. No one at MMSA is happy about it either.

It looks like Mini-Mustang, it looks like Acura TL, it looks like Mazda 6, it looks like Alfa Romeo, jeeezzzz people make up your mind, if you wanna be so **** about it then I guess every car has something from another car. To me Concept X looks like evolution of the 1999 Galant shape and I love it.

My bad. I did some digging online and found that there's a "voluntary" side impact airbag standard the manufacturers are meeting for 2007. It's not coming directly from DOT. From what you posted, with Evo production supposedly ceasing in August of '06, then the advanced standard is more the culprit. Thanks for the clarification.
