Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
I am so scared...
It seems like there is a lot of hype going on about the Evo X. YOu can love it or hate it but i hate it lol. Just my opinion. Im 14 y/o and I love the Evo, and no Im not one of those youths who want a rice rocket and get an Evo and think of myself as a good driver. I know most of its history, Ive been longing for it to come here since i first played Gran Turismo 2. The point is that I think that the Evo X will come withoout warning. That one day soon youll just see it in showrooms. And that's is what Im scared of because I thinkt eh X will ruin the Evo line for some reason. IIt's as if the Evo has become a lil bit soft because it doesn't seem as raw or as hardcore as the previous ones were. They might be loading the X with too many amenities and who knows? They might just throw in an automatic transmission or one of those SPORTRONIC ones with a manual shift gate...

"But where will the Evolution evolve next? "A wider power range, a softer ride, and quieter. This is our direction," Iwata says. Then he points to a Mitsubishi-owned Volkswagen R32 fitted with VW's silky-shifting Direct Shift Gearbox and asks, "What do you think of this transmission? It is very interesting to us." To some people, an Evo with paddle shifters and a mellow ride, an Evo that doesn't explode forward at 3000 rpm but merely wafts to higher velocities like a piano pushed off a skyscraper-well, that's just no Evo at all."

mitsu killed the eclipse and now its the evo's turn .....

Here's a link to the forum were I heard this rumor.
I have not seen the article myself, if any of you have please chime in.

yea but you got to remember, everyone was also having doubts about the IX... turned out to be amazing.
i don't think the mitsu designers would screw this up. they know they don't have room to mess around due to their many problems. just food for thought

I have to agree with one point...I think Mitsu is just going to drop it without any hint, which to me is kinda cool if the final product is worth the hype it has recieved. Maybe this fall you will all of a sudden see them arrive at dealerships, hey it could happen?....
but for me I will stick with the VIII maybe someday upgrade to a IX MR after people start trading in for the X like mad, cause you know it will happen.......

no worries - once the X comes out, it will be easy to pick up a cheap VIII or IX if you don't like it. I love my VIII, but I am intrigued by the X. We're just going to have to see when it gets here. Can't wait

Understand this young fellow, there is no reason the be scared of anything. There will be no disappointment or let doowns in the performance area. Any change to looks will be welcomed by the majority. This Evo X will perform because it MUST. All of the prior Evos have performed and with each model change, the car has looked better, felt better, and performed better.
Just remember that Mitsu claims the car will have a direct injection engine. Now understand that VW and Audi use this same technology in there engines. Now go to APRtuned.com and look at the power increase to the 2.0T direct injection engine from just adding a chip. Is it beginning to make sense. The Evo can not get worse. It can not dissapoint. It can only evolve into something better. Cheers
