Seems obvious that Mitsubishi will make the block strong enough for the stock motor, but will they build it strong enough to handle 2x or 3x the original hp?

If aluminum couldn't handle all the pressure I don't think car companies would go in aluminum engine direction considering that aluminum is even a bit more expensive than iron. Anyway, as I mentioned earlier, properly shaped and densly compressed aluminum should be a better solution than iron.

You said that as the temperature rises, aluminum loses its strength faster than iron but aluminum also conducts heat a whole lot better than iron so it won't get to the temperatures (or at least shouldn't) of cast iron engines.

Also, isn't it interestng that as much as Mitsu flaunts Concept X on every car show, the engine always is covered? I am suspecting that Concept X (next gen Lancer Evo) greatest strength will be in fact it's engine. I think that Mitsu is preparing something really special.

I personally don't like the design of the new EVO X. I'm entirely happy with my IX right now, and when it's actually time for the X to comeout.... BMW should be releasing the next generation V8 powered M3!!! My deposits going to BMW in 2008

I almost purchased a 9 this year, then i looked into a couple 8's (i still am) But im 18 going on 19 years old and almost done with college (yes i am flying through and busting my *** to do so, lol) I predict i will just ultimately wait for the Evo X to come out, cause honestly i don't need 400+ payments a month after a 15g downpayment while in college.....

With that being said i think Mitsu will ultimately stick mostly to their roots, with the aggresiveness, and "rawness" of the evo. I hope it just drops onto showrooms floors soon that'll be greeaat!!!

Nope, I'm 13 lol. I've been obsessed with Subarus and have been on NASIOC since i was 10, but started looking at evos recently because of the X. I totally agree that the x is not as raw, but Mitsu isn't worrying about the current market but the 'future m3 buyer market.. sort of.' If this evo isn't going to be as 'raw' as the current EVOs, there's still the STi. (God, I hope the 2009 impreza redesign isn't crappy.)

What's all the fuzz about the ugliness of the evo? The evo has been ugly since day one. The ugliness of it that makes it look cool. What will matter to you is how good it feels to drive one. The more I looked at the the X the more I'm drewling for it. And you know what, I think it'll be a great idea if mitsu decided to throw in an autotronic. I'm gonna convince my fiance in buying the X when it come out. I know it would be good for her cuz she doesn't know how to drive the manual. So that way I, I meant we can own another evo. I'm really looking forward to this new X. I'm just not in the market into buying any other car beside the EVO. I just hope we can have enought for the down payment by then. Hey by the way, I just paid off my VIII last month, totally forgot to mention that on the forum. Only after almost 1 1/2 year of owning it. vohooo. I'm hungry, I'm hungry for the X. I'm pretty sure that the X won't look as good as the concept, but will look even better when it does come out. We'll just have to wait and see. stop 8!@tİh!ng about it, you all gonna love it.

I always love the look of an evo A$$

Wow 14. I wish i liked cars when i was your age................but yeah i think he is right. The 10 is going to have a major impact on the way the Evo is looked at. Looks like they are making everything bigger and slower. Kind of like the new supra

I think the X looks alright. Just the interior that looks like they could have put a little more work into it.
