That's what they all said when the VIII first came out compare to the VII.

Not pretty but then neither is the VIII or IX but dusting a vette in a wagon would just be damn funny. Oh and brownie points for the wife for having a family car.

Doesn't matter since it's not for export and production stopped last year.

Wonder if they are running the stock advan tires on all that snow. Those advans suck in the snow. I almost learned the hard way w/ just a little bit of slush.

+1

I love my Evo but make no mistake...it's not an attractive car. On the other hand the X looks aggressive while still looking well proportioned. The Evo VIII and IX sorta look like they're about to burst. I like the X. I'm just concerned about all the first year bugs. Just look at all the '03 VIII horror stories, and that model was basically just a JDM VII cleaned up for the USDM. The Evolution X will entirely new from the ground up. This might be one situation where the earlier JDM release will be good for the USDM.

^Yes, by the time we get the EvoX here the jdm folks will have already made advancements in tuning the new engine. I can't wait to see the future BMI evo X tuner wars.

I loved how the guy pronounced Evo. I think the X looks a heck of a lot nicer than the current Evo. I will definitely buy one.

Dude the X is going to be the car to have. I have spent tons of time reading the speculation on this forum from post #1 in 2001 on and I have to say all the predictions of how the Evo was going to have 200-230 hp and all the other non-sense didn't pan out. No one can predict the future here it is definitive. The level of negativity every time something new comes out is the same then 6-8 months later its all about how everyone who has the older car made a mistake and the new one is sooooooooooooo much better. I am going to say the collective stupidity when studied can be a good meter of the future since it seems to hold true ever since I have been exposed to car forums.

List of stupid predictions you know it alls have aserted...

Evo 7 is coming next year

2003 Lancer w/ 230HP

HP ratings for the evo lancer VII US spec
Dec 22, 2001, 11:06 PM #1

I finally did my homework and got in on a little secret. The test US evo VII has 260 hp but there making the floor model with 250 so that not bad!
Trust me that's no bull****. How i came across this info well lets just say that my statement here was if i was talking to the president of mits himself!. U lancer fans will be offically notifed next 2 week!
I'm going to try to torcher this fellow some more. Maybe i can get some more info to u lancer peps! As soon as i get more i'll let u know!

Shall we buy the EVO VII or wait for the EVO VIII??

I was in a meeting with our distrect mgr today at our dealer about the Evo, and Mitsu is rasing the h.p. to 310 and now they are shooting for August. The price will still be the same.

"US" Evo VII available in Auto

Sorry to inform of ppl wanting a US Evo. I heard from a reputable mitsu source that the Evo 7's destined for the US will be VERY similar to the current US 2001 Eclipse GT's. Meaning NO Turbo, No AYC and, NO Hood Scoops; just phony indentations like the 3g eclipses.

From what I know we have to wait tell April of 2003...and we will be getting 250hp, smaller intercooler.

Dealer said EVO VII in September...

Pics of US Spec Evo 7 In Cal.

Most of the crap people are talking is just a form of mental masturbation.

Me too. Wy wife would look so sexy in one of those. Problem is you can't even get them in Japan anymore. They only produced some 3.5k units last December strictly for the JDM and they're all gone.

All signs point to yes, it is an integral part of the handling package that makes up SAWC.
By integrated I mean SAYC is not a simple module you can take away from the rear diff and expect the other components of SAWC to function fine without it. The sensors, electrical system and mechanics all summed together is what makes SAWC possible.
Even the Nav/LCD screen it will have is supposed to give realtime handling data on yaw-control levels and engine stats (like the R34). Everything about the car is built with SAWC in mind.

If you can imagine that USDM did not have SAYC, that means it won't have SAWC either. That leaves too much to be desired for handling and braking, making the EvoX look completely lame as a hyped out new-chassis evolution.

I think the X looks good. I also like the way my car looks. But then again, I don't drink the kool-aid that says you have to agree with mainstream press that the Evo is an ugly/immature/rediculous looking when compared other "serious" sports cars. I know it is just en vogue to hate change and hate something new and talk isht, but I've been on this board for a while and I remember all the hate the VIII got before it came out.
