Imagine, would an Acura TL look good getting all dirty, running through river banks, jumping in the air, leaving clouds of dust behind? I understand the AWD system is pretty good and has a lot of grip and all, but the thing is that I just cannot imagine a X driving in the nasties. The VII-IX just seem more capable for some reason, I just don't know...
I believe this because Mitsu's pulling out of this year's rally, plus the possibility of the Colt platform being Mitsu's rally future. They've been asked this and haven't denied it so far.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the next rally evo car be known as the Mitsubishi Colt Evolution 1. Remember Mitsu has 2 models under the Evolution name, one from WRC and one from DAKAR. The Pajero Evolution has been around for ages in japan. So the bottom line is whatever platform Mitsu introduces as it's next rally car will be known as the next Evolution series for the next decade.

well for the most part i have to agree with u guys. but think about this, most of the ppl here in the US who bought the evo used it for drag, auto-x, and road racing. so why do u guys even bother? i mean, u guys dont even take it to the rally fields or the dirt.

IMO Mitsu's rally evo 8 look more like the X.

evo's that are bought are rally inspired, just happens to be that its a race car out of the box, but its also not fully rally prepped out of the box either
Well I don't think a lot of people rally their evos because the majority of people can't afford to fix their cars after every event. Imagine the warranty woes if you drive into the service bay with clumps of grass and dirt stuck in every possible place.
Man, even as a kid, I really want an Evo. I saw a GG Ix Mr today and I was blown away. I may have seen it many times online, but seeing one in person made my day. I just hope that the supply won't run out by the time I'm able to drive. That's why I'm happy hella people say that they're gonna skip the IX and get the X! Lol I hope there willbe many leftovers in dealerships collecting dust.

i will be getting an evo come 2010 after i get though and out of college. i currently drive my auto *** lancer but hey its a lancer lol. I don;t mind the new look as long as the performance is superior than the IX's. But my only fear is that it won;t be made manual and i recently have really gotten into driving manual cars at work.
I remember I joined here when I was 15...thats when I had the Lancer OZ. I loved the Lancer Evolution. It has been my dream car and when it finally came to the states in 03, my jaw dropped. I still admire evos today with that same jaw dropping emotion when I see one on the street. I too am worried about the future look and power plant in the Evo X. However, As much as I long for one, I know that after becoming an engineer within the next 5 years, I can finally have one. If the future evos arent as great, there will always be a mint condition IXs with low miles. Right now, I'm 18 and drive a 99 DSM since someone ran a red and T-boned my Lancer OZ. The Lancer OZ looked absolutely beautiful in my eyes. But with this event, came a 99 turbocharged eclipse. With all these years of reading through Evoms forums on the 4G63 made me realize I know exactly how one works. I decided its time to boost. Now I know everything about the 4G63 and is into the tuner scene. Im also taking mechanics classes in highschool and is learning to repair/replace everything on my own. I bought my own tool set after working for a grocery store. Im starting college in August and am on the way to become and Automobile Engineer. The lesson here is if you put your mind to it, you can do it. You can one day own an evo, you can one day learn everything about the 4G63, and one day own the fastest Evo. Mitsubishi's automobile engineers are going to change the Evo quite a bit, but the legendary Evo title will prevail. The 4G63 will be put to rest but im sure that when youre 17, you will still be able to find cheap evos that still go ridiculously fast. Thats all that should matter. Let the Evo prevail with its killing performance and moderate sticker price
