Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
I think the evo X is ugly i just dont like it as much as the evo VIII or IX i just like them to much hopefully the new X wont look so close the the concept it looks like *** just my opinion
Agreed with the tail, it kind of looks weird. The vents on the side need to go, bringing too much chrome. Seats better change because that looks very uncomfortable.
Anyone got numbers for weight?? I heard 2 versions. One is a 4g63 pushing around 330 hp. And then the clutchless paddle shifter version with a new platform engine pushing 400 hp. Price??? 40k???
First upgrade------ Ripping that damn plastic off the engine

The side air vents actually look very cool and I would keep them and using of chrome color makes the car look more expensive IMO. Also the side air vents and the large front grille with large front hood openings kind of tells me that whatever the new engine will be, it will be one air (cooling) hungry unit meaning a LOT of horsepower indeed.
As far as what engine will be in it no one really knows as it wasn't officially announced although it is kind of weird of Mitsubishi as they always give displacement and HP numbers on their concept cars even if they don't make it to the production. But I don't think it will be 4G63 anymore, that engine has been around since 1988 and it's time for something lighter and new.
As far as overall dimensions go, the car is 2 inches wider than the current Evo, 1 inch taller than current Evo, and half an inch shorter than the current Evo meaning it has a wider stance meaning potentially much bette rhandling and less of rear body roll (both very positive things). As far as weight is concerned, the word is that the new engine will be all-aluminum (instead of usual cast iron) and they will use aluminum body parts all over the car so I guess the weight will probably be around the same ballpark as it is now (3200 lbs) or actually a bit less considering that the new Lancer platform is based upon stronger, more rigid, but yet lighter building materials.
As far as Concept X is concerned, the things that I would change a bit are the tail lights, the interior to look more civilized but I guess interior will definately change, and slightly enlarge the headlights (although I would definately keep the overall shape of them as they look really nice).
Anyway, I have attached a sketch image (done by the designers responsible for the next Evo look taken from lancerregister.com, sketch was done before the actual Concept X appeared) of the next Lancer Evo and of particular interest are the tail lights on the sketch as I think they would look very good on the Concept X body.

I agree with blitzkrieg79, the car looks amazing in person. I saw it at NY autoshow and it was actually the only thing that look cool except the Saleen S7 twin turbo!
I'm very anxious to find out what engine + transmission package will be available. I'm getting a white one or black, not 100% decided yet!

Found this in Autoweek .
The next C is the Lancer, due in the first quarter of 2007, followed by the next Evo and then another unnamed C-segment variant. The latter might be a hatchback for Europe derived from the Frankfurt show car, but who knows?
All the above-mentioned C-segment Mitsubishis will be available with All-Wheel Control, Mitsu’s take on all-wheel drive, Kurihara said. Evos will get Super All-Wheel Control, which adds sensors for yaw rate, engine torque and brake pressure to better control active center and rear differentials. The next Evo will also get active steering control.
We drove today’s Evos with and without S-AWC and active steering on an autocross course in Japan and actually preferred the car without—not even counting the added cost of such a system. Engineers said the model we drove was under development but would go on Evo X in the 2008 model year. They said the benefits are more apparent on a higher-speed course. As for the cuter-than-Scion Mitsubishi i, plans for bringing this B-segment entry to the United States are on hold until the C cars take off here. Execs said the Japan-market 660-cc three-cylinder does not have enough power to fly here, and a hybrid version would be too expensive. A more powerful three-cylinder or even a four-cylinder engine might work in the i, they intimated.

I wish Mit would put out some real pictures or something. We are half way through 2006 and all I've seen are crappy artist drawing and concept cars. I may be on the market for a new EVO in 2007, but at this rate I'll probably buy a use 05 or 06.
The DSG in the VW's is the best tranny I have ever been in, even better then the Ferrari and guess what? It's 1,000$ more. Think before you post
