The manual mode is pretty good.
Ya, its not like the new Skyline, next 997, Evo, M5, M6, new M3. It's not getting old it's getting better and it's the way to go. Think about it from a Manufacture standpoint. You cant miss a shift in a DSG so less warr work. Also all the Ferrari's have it and AM and a lot of other cars.

I think the writing is on the wall as far as what engine will be in the Evo X. If you look at the new Dodge Caliber SRT-4, it has the same hood scoop/vent configuration as the Concept X. It also runs the new World Engine, with VVT on both cams. It is a 2.4L aluminum engine with cast-iron sleeves, with the turbo by the firewall. It also puts out 300bhp stock. I would expect the same engine, destroked to 2.0L at least in Euro/Japan markets, and slightly more high-tech, to be in the production Evo X. Hopefully we don't get a USDM-only motor like they pulled with the STi guys and give Europe/Asia the real deal race one. I want a race motor not a "muscle" motor that puts out a few more ponies stock at the expense of modding potential and history...
So long 4G63, it was great while it lasted!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello World Engine...come here often?

Now the whole SMG that bmw uses and the F1 paddle shifting that Ferrari uses are true manual-paddle shifting using hydrolics to change gears....so u dont have that annoying gradual spike in an automatic when the gears switch up one. The EVO is a driver's car, and driver's more often than not will go with a traditional gate shifting gear box. I just think that paddle-shifting would be a waste of time and money. Elder folks wouldnt buy an Evo anyway, they would spend their money on something more expensive and sophisticated like an M3 or any Beemer or a Benz of some sort, anything of that caliber. I hope mitsu doesnt ruin a great car with that paddle-shift nonsence, or even worse yet, an automatic with sport-tronic.

And no offense to Chrysler but Mitsubishi has a lot more experience in tuning small displacement engines so I would assume that if Chrysler can get 300hp/260lb-ft torque I guess Mitsubishi will definately up those numbers.

So everybody wanting the AYC, the EVO IX should be coming with the next iteration of that, the S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control) which I believe combines both the ACD and AYC (probably the newer S-AYC from the overseas Evo's) into a single system. Personally for our cars, I've read that some tuners prefer not to have AYC on the current generation since it makes the predicitability of the car more dependent on the electronics when going sideways than on the driver leading to a false sense of confidence.
As for paddle shifters, this evo will have brand spaning new looks, engine, and just about everything else so I don't see why they wouldn't put paddle shifters on since it's been suggested from various venues.

Here's a bit of info on the new world engine from the allpar site. I searched this thread in order to avoid reposting info and didn't come up with anything so here ya go.

I would assume that it will be built in the same plant that makes the IX's outside of Hiroshima, Japan. From what I understand the reason there is no 2007 IX is because they are retooling the plant for the X's.
