Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
I wish the evo IX was in Canada, but they are bringing the X here to be the first evos here. The problem with the X is... it just doesn't look evoish to me. Looks like a 4 door mustang in the front
Although thats not to say i don't like it but rally cars are supposed to look different than other cars on the road. But the X is slipping in with the rest of them...

kinda funny how everyone said that it doesnt look like an evo, because that was what everyone was complaining about the 8, and same on the 9. everyone complained on how it doesnt have the agressive looks of the 6 & the 7. well guess what, everyone now tells us how beautiful and nice their 8 is and how they're in love with it. well to me, i think it looks awesome and it is by far the most aggresive front end i've seen on an evo (yes, better than the well-loved 6). the only thing that concerns me is the new engine on whether its better or worse than its predecessor. hence, i will be trading in my 8 for a 9, and i think the 10 will soon be my 9s garage-mate
.
.
Going from the VII-->VIII-->IX isn't a whole hell of a lot different though... in my opinion anyway. I do like the looks of the evo X, but like i said before, they are beginning to look like many cars out there.

GJ. I think they are going in the right direction. they just need to kill the auto/whatever trans and go with stick and keep the hood vent looking closer to the 8/9 hood. the agressive headlight and grill lines look good

I might be fairly typical of future EVO X lovers... I've always appreciated the abilities of EVO's and STi's, their power, handling and value compared to virtually every car on the road. But I could never get past the looks... to me the previous gens look like an old Mazda Protege that's been hopped-up... entry-level & toyish, with a lackluster and cheap-looking interior. Many car mags appear to agree, saying "Best of all, the design leaves the current car's econobox roots far behind."
Again, the look belied what the cars are capable of doing, and how good they drive. The EVO X, if produced close to the Concept, to me finally catches up from it's old boxy look to actually start to entice people who would never consider the old EVO because it was so pedestrian looking. Many people who currently own EVO's and STi's like their current look, saying they are different from most cars on the road... I'd agree, but that doesn't make them make them more appealing. I love the "get the hell out of my way" look of the Concept's front. The sides and rear are too generic to me, but still better than the previous gens. I hope they ditch the Concept's rear tail lights and make the sides and rear more aggresive in the production model. I'd also love it if the new interior is even 80% as clean and well put together as the Concept's. Sources are saying it will be offered with a stick, not just the paddle shifters, which is another must for me. I wouldn't consider an Lexus IS350 because it's not offered with a manual.
It will be a long wait, but it will be worth it to me. I was holding out for the possibility the VW Concept R mid-engine roadster would become a reality, but since it's been nixed, The EVO X is currently tops on my list. Other potential's further down my list are the following: 2007 Nissan G35 redesign, 2007 Acura RSX redesign, 2007 Hyundai Tiburon (based on the HCD8 Sports Tourer concept), and 2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP.
