the IX is clearly better then the VIII... but the X is gonna blow the IX away. It will have all that new power + some extra most likely, plus its lighter with better weight distribution and isnt so cheap looking.. it has a hell of alot more style. The people sayings its ugly are ridiculous.. it actuall looks like its price tag now. There was no purpose in me upgrading just one generation.. so i figure ill have my VIII as a daily driver and buy a X to be garaged in a couple years.

The evo IX is hardly and evolution anyway.. but between the changes from the 03-05+ the IX changes the car has gone quite far recently.. but the Xs changes will be dramatic..

I think we'll be lucky if a stripped base EvoX is in the $35K range....they're trying to keep the car as light as possible which means aluminum and more expensive. I can see an "MR" version going for over $40K. I'd honestly pay a bit more for a better performing and more cohesive design from nose to tail. And it looks like the car will look great with and without the wing. I just hope the metal tail light surrounds don't make it into production!

My local dealer said it should come out in about a year and a half.

Quote: I might be fairly typical of future EVO X lovers... I've always appreciated the abilities of EVO's and STi's, their power, handling and value compared to virtually every car on the road. But I could never get past the looks... to me the previous gens look like an old Mazda Protege that's been hopped-up... entry-level & toyish, with a lackluster and cheap-looking interior. Many car mags appear to agree, saying "Best of all, the design leaves the current car's econobox roots far behind."

Again, the look belied what the cars are capable of doing, and how good they drive. The EVO X, if produced close to the Concept, to me finally catches up from it's old boxy look to actually start to entice people who would never consider the old EVO because it was so pedestrian looking. Many people who currently own EVO's and STi's like their current look, saying they are different from most cars on the road... I'd agree, but that doesn't make them make them more appealing. I love the "get the hell out of my way" look of the Concept's front. The sides and rear are too generic to me, but still better than the previous gens. I hope they ditch the Concept's rear tail lights and make the sides and rear more aggresive in the production model. I'd also love it if the new interior is even 80% as clean and well put together as the Concept's. Sources are saying it will be offered with a stick, not just the paddle shifters, which is another must for me. I wouldn't consider an Lexus IS350 because it's not offered with a manual.

It will be a long wait, but it will be worth it to me. I was holding out for the possibility the VW Concept R mid-engine roadster would become a reality, but since it's been nixed, The EVO X is currently tops on my list. Other potential's further down my list are the following: 2007 Nissan G35 redesign, 2007 Acura RSX redesign, 2007 Hyundai Tiburon (based on the HCD8 Sports Tourer concept), and 2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP.
Have you even driven an Evo? Are you the type who tries hard to find a balance between looks, comfort, value, and performance?

You sound like my elder brother, who cares more about the visual stimulation than the go-fast sensation. I belong soley to the latter club - my race car fantasies are endless. My brother has never driven an Evolution and I have my doubts that you have either.

Look what you drive now. How do you feel about your TSX? Look at what I drive and you won't have to ask how I feel about it, as it's written all over my face. I am the most proud car owner.

I drove an understeering, unresponsive Neon SRT-4 before my current car. I spent over a year researching the Evo and test drove a wide spectrum of USDM Evos before I made the ultimate decision to finally buy one - drove an '04 and '05 VIII, '05 MR Edition (blew my mind), and an '06 IX before finally getting my '06 RS.

I must confess that money delayed my overwhelming desire to buy an Evo, but am glad that I researched as much as I did, as I have no regrets with my purchase.

I think it's amazing how I can have so much fun every day by merely driving a car.

More on topic, I don't think we'll see the X anytime soon, say two even three years. I believe Mitsubishi will time the release around the same time they re-enter the WRC, as of now, reportedly not till 2008.

Motor Trend is forecasting the X will be released in the States as an '09 model - yes, 2009 model, available in 2008 some time. I couldn't wait that long. I'm glad I didn't even try, as it would have been a complete waste of time.

The current Evo is one hell-of-a car. Go get one now if you can. I'll leave you with this: avoid the SSL package.

Gotta run.

The X doesn't look great, but if it has mad power and hadling, I am deffinently gonna get, reguardless of what it looks like.

When your inside a car, driving the snot out of it, YOU CAN'T SEE THE OUTSIDE.

This is the same reason I like the 06 WRX more then the 04-05 WRX. The 04-05 looks better, but the 06 is so much strong and pulls better, and I can't see the outside when I'm driving it, so I don't care that the looks are not as good as the 04-05.

its funny how people were saying that about the viii when the ix was on its way, the x wont be out for awhile, go get the ix now, and get the x when it comes out, and the x will be better than the ix

Quote: OOooo a NEW Evo X thread.

Any year evo > no Evo.

Evo IX > any other year Evo.

I couldn't agree more. If you want one, go get one ASAP. Why wait if you don't have to?

I think the Evo X looks great, and will look even better in person. When I saw the VIII in person, it completely changed everything I thought about it... It's (the X) going to be a bad *** car.

Yes. If you want an EVO right now, go get a IX. If you gotta wait a while, the X may be an option. I would get a IX, but I got an 05 in June (I tried to get a IX, but couldn't get less the 4.9% APR and a bad trade in). I gonna get a X when it comes, in the meantime, I wanna get a used S2000/3rd gen. RX-7 and gonna get IX turbo/frt. bumper/JDM rear bumper and more mods on the VIII. I'm gonna pay off the EVO by the time the X gets here, then the X is gonna be my daliy driver and the VIII a race/track/shop car.

I seriously doubt you'll have to wait 2 1/2 -3 years for the new Evo 10. It's should be here sometime in 2007. I'm thinking about 15-18 months from now for a late spring early summer delivery in 2006.

Possibly to compete with all of the eleventy billion other car companies that do it?
