I don't think silverEVO8 deserves this comment. I think he was just making the point that it isn't just rich kids who buy cars and wreck them from being too overconfident of their skills. Smarter and safer cars are inevitable. Maybe Mitsubishi will leave a back door open or create a track model RS that defeats the driver aids so the purists can have fun too.

Regardless, I think the comparison will still be made. IF the Evo X is that good and it does indeed raise the bar, it will be tough to justify higher and higher priced supercars for some people. What if you can get 3/4ths or 7/8ths GT-R or Z06 performance for half the price?

technology? psh! i say get rid of all traction control devices, make 'em more like go-karts and just line the sides of the highways with tires!
Yeah, I'm all for that as long as I have a neutral car.

well I tend not to act like a moron on public roads while I have to listen to a bunch of civics with cantalope launchers fly by my house in rush hour traffic so to your comment:

I like cantalopes I just think too many people are not giving this car a fair chance before it comes out. People talk smack about it before it's even here just like they did in the Sport Compact Car article. It's the same people that talk about getting away from it's rally roots also, WTF I understand their upset, but they don't even know what this thing is capaable of yet. will be back to rally in 2008 so they say. These are the same people that would put a kind in SLD before they test him/her for dyslexia and A.D.D.. I suppose I am of the club where everything is possible. Including a middle class kid who works two jobs, because he/she has the passion to drive an exceptional car, like the Evo X.

I think people are bashing Mitsu (because of it's financial woes) and not specifically the Evo X. I don't know a single person who doesn't respect the EVO line. Some people just don't like the look of the concept.

hey I was just sayin its going to be expensive and not as accessible going off of what mitsu was saying in the SCC article about it competeing with the M3, its going to put it in the hands of those that are on the more privilaged side is all, if they have a base model then good , but in the current form they are showing us its definately going to be pricey.

I'll have to agree with the engine thing. basically mitsubishi was following the same line as porsche with the 911. maybe the owner of mitsu didn't like the evo that much anymore

I feel like Mitsubishi is trying to go under. I really hope they plan on NOT following through with some things for the X. Paddle shifter? Comeon.

We should find out who to write to at Mitsubishi to strongly reccomend they dont fock this up. We have a lot of members on here.

Maybe, you should try out for formula one, ooooh you already are, I'm sorry my misinformation. For that matter since you are SO good I can't see why you two even read a low class forum like this one. Who would have ever thought... Regaurdless of your class, people need technology to help them go faster. Wake up.
Sigh....... I wish you'd read the posts a little more thoroughly before blasting away. I never intimated that I'm a superior driver. I harbor no such illusions, I've been driving for more than 4 decades and I know my limits which are not that high... What I meant by my comment is that there is no need to say things like only rich kids are going to buy EVOs and drive them beyond their abilities. I'd say that lots of EVO owners are not that rich and they are quite capable of driving above their skill level and crashing their cars. Just read all the "wrecked EVO" threads and you'll see... Also, although I might be mistaken, I don't think the next EVO is going to suddenly become a super expensive car. Chances are the EVO X will be priced competitively and all kinds of enthusiasts will be able to buy one just like it is now. Therefore is not only "rich kids" who'll drive and wreck their EVOs. Economic status is not in anyway directly correlated to driving skills. There are plenty of very wealthy people who can drive very well and there are lots of middle class and poor people who cannot drive their way out of a paper bag....

Nope

Looks like 2008 or 2007 as a 2008 model, they didn't specify which. Check out 2nd pic down. This is from Mitsu at the Chicago Auto Show. Its for the Galant RalliArt but they had this little pic in there.

You all surely remember all of the claimed release dates from the STi and the Evo... as early as 2002 they were saying - even in magazines. I'll believe it when I see it!

Thought this was interesting. Came from Mitsu, but it was during the Galant RalliArt showing at the Chicago Auto Show. They never metioned if its going to be a 2008 model coming in 2007 or 2007 model coming in 2008. Check out second pic down...

EVO X hint

And as always the disclaimer... Sorry if this is a repost. Especially since Axel seems to be on top of all this stuff before everyone else!

Disapointing, was hoping for at least a hint of something. It is listed as the Lancer Evolution Concept instead of just concept x but then we knew that already.

okay....

1st off.... why not have a car thats refined, drives well and is fast as hell? I owned the 1st 8 in Maryland.... I loved my evo.... but some things bothered me when I wasnt at the track or an autox.... 5 gears bugged me on hwys.... yea, its better for racing but man was it annoying at highway speeds and on my wallet.... the interior is cheap.... and yes, it made me look like a boy racer... which I was when I bought it... 3 yrs ago and now Im 26 with a kid on the way.... so yea, I dont mind that it looks more grown-up, has an easier tranny and an upgraded interior... IF it still handles as well, brakes as well and accellerates as well.....

I wasnt looking at the IX at all.... but the X has me interested.... I was planning on getting a C6 Z06 or 05 Boxster S.... but if the money isnt there I will do the X... but I wouldnt have done the X if it was an "evolution" of the current car.... which I still love, but isnt right for me at this junction in my life....

I hate hearing that the X wont be hardcore enough... I said the same thing when I had my VIII and the MR was coming out.....
