Post 2006 Launch Date for EVO X

It’s hard to say how accurate the information is; there seems to be a article in the newest Motor Trend claiming that they have found out that the EVO X will be launched later this year. This might explain why the European Mitsubishi site is already taking pre-orders.
Here's a link to the forum were I heard this rumor.

I have not seen the article myself, if any of you have please chime in.

I personally don't like the new styling.

I spotted that in the latest Motor Trend - Mar. '06 issue. I would take that claim with a grain of salt, though, until Mitsubishi themselves announce it or, better still, show a production version. I'll believe it when I see it.

If you want to obliterate the competition on track, get a focused performance car.
That's very well put and quite frankly sums it up.

First of all, isn't the Evo limited-production? That is singlehandedly saying it isn't for the masses. It's currently and has always been a purpose-built vehicle with the performance enthusiast as it's target audience. You diminish the raw performance qualities that make it a concise driver's car, and it's no longer an Evo.

I get a kick out of reading how people have a concern for their self image while driving an Evo. Quite sad really that someone feels they can't purchase a car they want because they're terrified of what others might think of them. Going through life seeking society's approval of my car purchasing dicisions isn't my game. It never will be. If you have a career where you feel your ride dictates your level of success (other than being a professional racer), there's a lack of confidence in your occupational skills that you inherently think your whip's going to make up for. Too funny.

if you buy an evo its not of the luxurious cruising ride , your looking for gripping tight coners and feeling the road and not gliding , thats what the evo's all about not the sleek bad handeling sporty look , but the boxish tight look that made the car an evo! i dont like what there doing to one of the best cars evermade , if you wanted a sleek sporty ride then get somthing else! also the interior of the evolution is probly the most impressive on anycar ive ever owned i accutally wouldnt buy anything without recaro's untill im old and fat! anywasy its all a matter of opinion, but there taking a car that they evolved over 5 years and making it look soo much diffrint well i suppose times change but the EVO VIII will always reign supreme! hahahaha

Man you folks need to relax. There really is no need to speculate or worry. It’s already been reported that the new X will cost more and it is clearly moving up market, like it or not. If you hate the X, don’t buy it. If it performs as has been reported and looks close to the concept then I will get one.
How is it a bad thing if the new X will run circles around the current car while still being more refined.
You all need to just deal with. It will be here soon like it or not. I for one like it.

I'm just hoping the next Evo doesn't move so far up market that it finds itself extinct in the US like the 3000gt.

Have you been reading the tech specs at all? There is no way it will run circles around the current car. It will chase modded VIII and IX taillights. I hope to eat those words, but I bet I won't have to.

It looks like the evo I love is getting older and mature. I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing.

Hey, the sky is the limit when you start talking modded cars. I'm sure with enough money anything can be made very fast. At this juncture it would be near impossible to tell how mod friendly the new car will be. Also it should be obvious that Mitsubishi was referring to a stock to stock comparison.

In truth stock to stock is the only way we can measure both cars at present and in that contest the X clearly has a significant advantage or haven’t you been reading the specs?

Like it or not, for better or for worst the X is coming. Like I said before, if you don't like it, don't buy it.
