Its still a concept, they are talking about changing the name from Evolution to something else! I think the Evolution name is very respected among import enthusiasts.

Oh yeah back to the thread, sounds good, I might just wait for the X after all...

 

If the the X has a DSG transmission like a VW or like the ZeroShift dog box, then that tranny will be very good. If the mitsu DSG tranny is like a M3 SMG, then I would get the traditional 5 speed.

Now the X doesn't look great, but if it has mad power and hadling, I am deffinently gonna get, reguardless of what it looks like.

This is the same reason I like the 06 WRX more then the 04-05 WRX. The 04-05 looks better, but the 06 is so much strong and pulls better, and I can't see the outside when I'm driving it, so I don't care that the looks are not as good as the 04-05. I also think that the X looks will grow on people and more and more will like it when it becomes reality.

There goin to be a semi-automatic one ( automatic with shift-tronic)

The manual will be the usual 6 gearbox or the paddle shifters.

But these are all speculations... gotta wait to find out the real stuff.

well the first guy used the term DSG...so I just went on that...anything but a better version of the OOOO Dsg is shyte.

EDIT....I just saw the last post......if it is a tptronic it isn't worth a dime. BUUUUuuuut.
They did get Getrag to do our trannies (at least 6 spd) so Germans might be in the transmission mix. lets hope. Although if in any literature it is called DSG than it is an OOOO tranny THANK GOD. Because VW/OOOO owns the name DSG.

They will especially with almost everything made out of aluminum, not just the hood and roof.

I for one am very anxious about the X. Lot's of people are griping about the look but when they actually see one and it weighs around 3100 lbs with 350hp....let the drool begin. I love the design and if they can capture 80% of the concept I think it will be something to behold in person.

The DSG will be neat too. Some are better than others but it really is NOT an automatic as we know them. The only question mark for me is the interior.....we will see what it looks like.

 

If they put an electronically controlled manual i.e. M3 or 360 Modena, im definitly upgrading.

 

That's must be Chris Bangle's theory at BMW, that justified the current 7-series, 5-series and Z4.

 

anybody who's bad mouthing DSG obviously doesn't fully understand what it is. the first time i read about it i thought it was a great idea. the whole point of having a manual transmission over an automatic is to be able to control the gears more precisely, have quicker shifts than automatics, and go faster, am i right? if they come out with something, like DSG, that shifts faster and smoother than a manual, with less effort, how is that a bad thing? the whole point is faster, smoother shifts, and more precise control.

no matter what form it takes, if it's better than the system it's replacing, i'm all for it. the people who call themselves "true enthusiasts" are the people that will be left in the dust by the others who embrace technology as a means to excell past obsolete technology, and those too stuborn to change. i'm all for advancements in technology, and change. you can't stop change. it's going to happen. if you try and deny it, the only thing that will happen is you'll be left behind. i'd rather be at the forefront of new ideas than on the tail end of an idea who's run is coming to an end. if you can build a better mousetrap, i'm all for it.
