Last I heard, rally cars basically look like econo-sedan-boxes on steriods.

Based on your definition of a rally car, the X is one.

It seems however that most people can't get past the more modern look of the X, so they can't envision what a fully rally prepped version of the X would look like.
Do we really need or want another lowered street racer? The beauty to a rally car for the street is that you can drive it all year round without fear of snow, potholes or bumps, because it's tough and can easily survive winter driving. That pretty boy lowered photoshopped car would need to be garaged this time of year. I hope to drive my next car all year long… For that task I require something less fragile, something fast, AWD and rugged. If any I would like it raised up a inch or two with a wider track to compensate for the higher center of gravity.

Relax its just a photeshop of the X in yellow...that basis of this thread. ANd if people wanna lower it and do what they want to THEIR car then so be it.THe beauty of the Evo is not that it can be drivin off road but the fact that you can if ya want and if you dont (Say you live in cali) then you can make it a street racer that puts fear in Honda owners heart.

A cars look its a reflextion of its owner personality, keep it that way.

As Long as they keep the TRIM LEVELS and include the SAWC system and keep it consistent with the rest of the world, they will do fine.
That includes the COLORS.
as Soon as they stray from the normal like they did with the IX then it is going to cause problems, that is the reason why I am holding off on buying one yet again.

I think the X will look and function beautifully as a street racer and a boulevard cruiser... ala "2 Fast 2 Furious". It would be interesting to know how many current U.S. Evo owners (let alone this future beauty) buy them primarily to race off-road. A great feature I'd love to see especially for a car like the X, would be a optional height-adjustable air suspension... so it could function great in both environments.

Sure am... and so far the the looks & interior quality haven't cut it for me... but Mitsu with the X seems to be getting the message and appears to be looking to greatly improve on those two elements, and perhaps even increasing the engine performance and handling. The trick will be to retain the value while updating the car. There are many faster, better looking cars you can buy... but not for anywhere near the money.
You sound like my elder brother, who cares more about the visual stimulation than the go-fast sensation.
I care about both, as do a lot of people. And if you truly want to feel the ultimate "go-fast sensation", park your cars and hop on any number of sport bikes out there! I've driven many and have yet to find a car less than $75K that can evoke the same speed rush.
The current Evo is one hell-of-a car.
I agree... but think the X will by far strike that "balance" I'm looking for.

local dealers don't know jack.

anyway, it sounds like you just can't afford to buy a IX so you're trying to rationalize waiting 2 years for the X.

I would wait until we can find out more info on the important stuff the 10 will have. Sure it looks cool (to me), but BHP, suspension, engine config are still mythical. I don't think you can go wrong with a IX, and you could always trade up. JUST BUY ONE MUHAHAHAHAH

The one question you didn't answer was whether or not you've driven an Evo. I still doubt that you have spent any good time behind the wheel of one. I would bet that if you spent a good day driving an '06 MR that you would say, "X what?" or "It looks damn good now!"

I will admit that I've never driven a crotch rocket, but I know that they are straight-line performers. I'm more into turns and love the WRC and F1. For an all-around performance package, the Evolution suits this family guy perfectly.

Edmunds has the X targeted for release in late '07, as a 2008 model. That's a little better than Motor Trend's projection, but it's still a terrible wait. You wait all you want for your better looking exterior and interior, I'll have fun now and even more fun when the X finally arrives.

Enjoy your TSX, sincerely.

Just for the record but there is absolutely no differenece between the plattfrom of an Evo 8 and a Evo 9 other than the minor gearbox ratios, mechanical differences and different rims.

why do you guys get all worked up because some guy gave his opinion? get over it...plain and simple...he clearly states that the current model doesnt have what he wants in a car, and is hoping that the X will, its the exact way i felt about my decision on buying my legacy, i like the comfort and didnt want a rough ride...
the evo is not for everyone, and coming down on someone becuase they want it to be a little more luxurious, just makes ya'll look like an @ss

It's called discussion, debate, exchanging opinions. There's really no reason to get offended or your feelings hurt. For the record, I'm not "all worked up" or "coming down on someone". I'm trying to help a guy out. I care less about how my opinions make me look, *** or not. Get real, dude. A fight is not what I'm looking for here. You can have all the fun you want in your soft-riding, more comfortable Subaru. To each his own. I find immense comfort in my radio-less, no sound-deadened, crank-windowed, no carpet-lined trunk, taut-riding Evolution. I'm having a hell-of-a fun time.

my feeling arent hurt, but as much i expressed my opinion, you also exoressed yours, all i said was that it wasnt the car for him, thats all, but someone got on his case, asking him if he ever drove the car, and all this other madness...
