...and so back to my original question. What will happen if Getrag makes the tranny? Will they make it stronger than BW? Getrag did make the transmission for the Skylines.
I would like to see both transmissions over engineered so that they can handle mad power. Strange thing is, as good as the DSG may be I will probably opt for the manual. DSG makes me kinda lazy, I forget to shift and just end up wasting fuel. I need a manual tranny to keep me awake and connected.
But who knows… DSG may win me over yet. Anyway it nice to have options. I will add that I would prefer a 6-speed to a 5-speed. Hey Mitsu, are you seeing this, give us an option for a 6-speed manual tranny also.

That would make sense, however Mitsu has previously stated the option will be DSG or a 5-speed manual. Of course this may change, but for now that is the official word.
Hey Dragin,
Not sure what they're tellin you guys in the US, but they are planning on bringing out a 'real' IX MR here in Japan (kinda a 9.5)...check out my previous posts on the first page

BMW's SMG takes 80ms upshift gears and 160ms to downshift and is extraordinarily harsh. VW's DSG on the otherhand upshifts in a mere 8ms and downshifts in 32ms. Beyond the time differential the DSG is MUCH smoother as the next gear is already pre-selected by the transmission so the "shift" is much more precise. SMG is not able to pre-shift and simply bangs the car into gear with a resounding thud. I urge you to go drive the VW transmission in any of their offerings (new GTI, GLI, Audi A3) and report back. You'd find it's a very exciting drive. I still prefer the overall control of a manual, but for die-hard track driving the DSG is superior to even the best shifters the world has to offer.
sounds good, ill give dsg a try...ps the m3 still smokes the s4

All I have seen is Audi's made up charts comparing a 5/6 spd to the DSG, while I have not seen ONE real world test comparing the same car with either transmission, be it 0-60, 1/4 mile or a roadcourse. The closest thing I have to compare the two is UK TopGear's "Stig" lap times, and in every single one the "new" Audis and VWs have slower times than the older 6 spd models. I'm not saying the DSG isn't faster (ok I am) but does anyone have a valid comparison test?

It is the most beautiful thing on the planet (minus the interior). With that said, it doesn't have the rally car feel, it looks like a mix between Rx-8 and RSX.... It looks like a track car... hopefully they kept it's rally roots somewhere inside.
I don't want an evo that goes faster than 150mph... That's not really the point of it.
But I do want an evo that'll own a Atom on the skidpad.... Cause that'll be sickass.
Regaurdless, since it's apparently comming to Canada, I'm buying it regaurdless. I have waited too god damn long.

From Best Motoring Vol. 26 - Racing Bonanza, times below all driven by Tsuchiya in 0-400M:
Integra-R-------14.561
GTI DSG------14.747
Megane RS-----15.057
GTI 6MT-------15.495
Astra-------------15.495
That is a HUGE difference!

EVO X racing harnesses
Maybe some of you can shed some light on this, but everyone says its dangerous to run bucket seats and racing harnesses without a roll cage due to the danger of spinal injury in the case of the roof collapsing if the car were to roll. So why is it in all the EVO X interior pics i see they violate this using 4 point harnesses?
It's called the CONCEPT X and that is really what this vehicle is. A concept. A dream. Showcase of what could be. Exterior is close to the same as the EVO X production vehicle. The interior is a designer's dream of what COULD be, but won't.
