Good, but not great. Seeing these photos still makes me glad I got the IX instead of waiting.
I'm not crazy about moving to the aluminum engine, but who knows - that may end up being a non-issue once the tuners get hold of it.
Thumbs up to Mitsubishi for keeping a true manual transmission, and offering the flappy-paddle gearbox as an option only.
It'll be great to finally have the AYC like the rest of the world, and hopefully the handling will still be razor sharp, even if the weight is higher (not sure what the final curb weight will be).
Looks wise, I don't think the exterior is as aggressive as the current model, and while the interior is okay, I don't care for the fact that they moved the tach from the center of the gauges, and I absolutely hate the steering wheel - it's far too busy (I don't want or need buttons all over the wheel), and at least in these pictures it doesn't look like it is quite as thick as the current one, nor have the indentions for where you rest your thumb.

I'm glad I got my IX when I did. I was afraid Mitsu would sell out.
The looks are obviously subjective, but I'm not liking it at all. The unusual hood looks goofy. The giant mouth looks just as bad as it does on an Audi. Why does the back end stick up so much? It almost 4 inches taller! Why does it need to be any bigger? The interior is over done. The dual exhuaust seems silly on a four cylinder. The new spoiler (not carbon fiber) doesn't look as good.
An extra 200 lbs will be felt every time you want to accelerate, brake, or turn. The extra power is definitely good, but I doubt it will be much faster. The power/weight ratio is better by only 6%.
Overall it looks like the spent all their effort trying to appeal to a wider demographic rather than trying to make the car more fun to drive.
