Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
Wow, they said it wont be till NEXT YEAR till it comes out. Maybe you guys can get them to change some things you dont like.
I'd like to tell them to keep it how it is. I love the interior.

If they offered the hdd/nav in the evo i would take it it looks good!!! They could offer some plugins for vehicle performance and speed, g's similar to the pioneer stuff out now! Rather they put a lap timer smak dab in the middle of the dash
I'd place my order for the first tarmac of the boat tomorrow. The wifes going to love it with the tiptronic instead of full on manual and it would definately be easier to drive in traffic. Shouldnt be as many idle problems after modding either.
I don't mean to sound pecimistic but.. well first I am excited about the Evo X, but I have to say, I don't think an aluminum block will hold the power of the mods we're putting our 7's, 8's, and 9's. I'm thinking I very well may stick with the power and solidity of my IX MR.
Also, why the hell didn't that broadcast address that question? I'm sure a TON of people asked it. "will that block hold serious modifications?" I've seen IX's pushing over 500 AWHP, can an aluminim block really support that?... I wonder.

Prototype X Interior: that crappy for real?
Just finished watching the disappointing web cast of the prototype-x. No info at all.
The outside is not bad but what the hell is up with the interior? I hope it does not stay like that. Starting a separate thread to bash the interior.
Here are a few major things that really bother me:
- The gauge cluster: there is none. There are 2 protruding pods - this just looks ugly.
- What is up with the clock in the middle. Who cares about a stupid and useless chronograph. What the hell are you going to do with that. Look at it once? Impress a chick with it? Why not have a useful gauge in its place?
- The radio integrated into the dash. We can't relocate it anymore and install useful gauges in its place.
- No place to add gauges.
- and last but not least... What the Hell is up with the freaking Fast 'n Furious Neon Glow going across the interior. They made the car grow up on the exterior but on the inside they do this crap to it?!? Unbelievable. I thought the next gen EVO would get away from this FnF crap, but now with NEON on the inside, I really don't know what to think. I just lack the words to bash this feature properly at this time.
I'm very displeased, and not so keen on getting the X anymore due to the interior design. I hope they change that.

The steering wheel is a bit too busy for me. They need to get rid of all the buttons and put it somewhere else. Also The neon light that runs across the dash and the side has got to go.

Agreed. I'm not afraid of change, it's just that Mitsu is trying to save their brand rather than appeal to the sport compact segment. If you were them, you would make this move toward a larger audience and try to liven up your brand. Toyota is quality. Honda is reliability. Nissan is style/performance. Mitsu is what...?
My concern is that the new Evo will be an outstanding car from the manufacturer. However, it may not be as good from an aftermarket perspective. Good luck building an aluminum block to withstand the abuse that the current 4g63 block will take. Imagine trying to tune on this platform. If the car has electronic aids for steering, braking, driveline, etc. what will happen if you modify one component of the car or another? Will it screw with the other sensors? Also, active suspension may mean that you won't be able to switch out suspension components.
I like the design of the new car and the current interior sucks in comparison. But the new car just isn't edgy or raw enough for me. It just doesn't look like an Evo. I bought my IX for canyons, track days, and the ability to mod the hell out of it. If I wanted to look pretty, be comfortable, and have the electronics do all of the driving I would have bought a BMW, Mercedes, or Audi.

They make it to appeal to more ppl. That's why I got my IX last week!
According to Autoblog:
The LED accent strip that runs across the dash and doors is said to not be indicative of a production feature, but Mitsubishi suggests that it might inspire something similar in the aftermarket.
