Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
im not skeptical nor am speculating. i welcome the AMT cuz manuals are a pain in the neck when in traffic, especially uphill. i was just stating a fact, since all Semi-automatics use wet clutches like in full autos. but yess, we should wait and see.
Personally, I like the idea of a DSG. I hate the idea of an SMG. But I'd love to know where the DSG rumors came from.
will the DSG shift automaticly if one tries to hit cut off? Will it downshift and allow the engine / gearbox to break? Is it a true manual as the F430 / 360 Modena? If it is not than it should not be fitted to a sports rally car! Only super sporty manual gearbox should be fitted to such a car! otherwise it will loose its title...

Also, I don't think any of the SMG's out there will allow you to overrev the engine on a downshift. They're all smarter than that. And just because it doesn't allow you to grenade your engine does not mean it's not "sporty". I agree about being able to hit fuel cut though.
yes i am aware of all that. and im moving to LA soon so the uphill bit wont matter anymore, but the traffic...

Thanks for the pic, bounce. I was there, too (yesterday) and tried to get this shot, since it's pretty much the only thing that's not already in the photo-gallery at autoblog.com, but the car kept rotating and the stupid digital camera I was trying to use had a delay between pressing the shutter and taking the picture!
It's clear from the photo that the rear suspension has changed. That steel rod running perpendicularly to the wheel used to be aluminum. I think that's the one that adjusts toe. The type of suspension is the same, however. There's a trailing arm, and the same number of other links as there always was.
Also, there are still McPherson struts up front (sadly, no double wishbone), so this car will remain camber-challenged in the front.
I too thought the car looked better in person than in photos. My daughter (also an Evo fan) and I both were surprised that the car, in profile, looks remarkably similar to the current model. It's only when you see the nose, or the tail, that the differences jump out at you.
I was trying to see if those vents behind the front wheel well are functional, but couldn't get close enough to the car to see. What I could see, however, was that the vents inside the front of the front wheel wells are much bigger than my Evo 8, and should allow a lot more air to pass through. This is a highly welcome improvement by those of us (including me) who turned our Brembo's into Brownbo's on the race track. :-(

Evo X Write-up at Topspeed
A simple straight forward write-up on the Evo X, which appears to be coinciding with the NAIAS. Some clean and high-def pictures also ( an example).
Lastly, an interesting, although slow film on all of the Evo's in procession from the beginning upto the Evo IX.
