I keep hearing people refer to the sequential gearbox version of the X as "auto". My question is: will it even have an automatic mode?

Also, the only other car I have driven with a sequential gearbox shifted if I went close to the redline (not even *to* redline). I hope it will not be like this.

That wasn't a sequential gearbox, just an auto with a manual mode. The X should stay in a gear no matter what, since it is based on a manual.

So what? The 4g63 isn't sleevable according to Mitsu either. I was actually pretty impressed by the webbing underneath.

I think we'll be surprised by this motor. As for the training video, who is to say they don't put huge sleeves in the Evo version of the 4B11 from the factory that need not be replaced? Surely they won't put the same sleeves in the measly 152 hp lump as they will in the Evo motor. They normally build stout motors for Evos, right? The 4G63 turbo is based on the N/A version, but it's a better motor...so what really is new here? I'm sure they know they have people like us to satisfy with this car...and since this is a world car, they can't pull what they did to the eclipse in 2000 to the whole world with the Evo...they know only us "dumb" Americans fall for cars like the 2000 Eclipse GT...

The ONLY thing I like about it is the chain driven timing setup. Did you guys see those ****ty looking ports on the cylinder head? I would hope that wouldn't be the same design that is carried over to the performance model.

4G63 engines dont need sleeves.

It has been stated over and over again, the EVO X will also have a 5-speed manual transmission (maybe later a 6-speed), sh*t as far as we know, Mitsubishi may scrap the 5-Speed for a 6-Speed manual. My point is, we are gonna just have to wait and see, but as far as I know a 5-speed manual will also be available when the car is released.

Hey... just curious, there's not an equivalent training video out there on you tube for the Evo 4G63T is there? I briefly searched, but couldn't find anything. It'd just be kind of entertaining to watch.

My predictions for the EVO X...

So I've been researching and stuff trying to gauge what I believe the EVO X specs will be, and here is my guess. Anybody else have a guess? Bet you I am pretty damn close
Anyhow here are my EVO X predictions-

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X
2.0L Turbocharged 4-Cylinder
320-325HP@6000RPM 325-330TQ@3000RPM
6-Speed AMT or 5-Speed Manual
3300Lbs to 3380Lbs AWD
280whp to 300whp (Stock)
280wtq to 300wtq (Stock)
12.6 to 13.0@105mph to 109mph (Stock)

Power- I believe the EVO X will be rated at around 320HP and 325TQ, and just like all EVOs prior to the EVO X be underrated. I believe 280-300whp is a safe bet in my opinion.

Weight- I believe the EVO X will not be as heavy as some of you extremist believe. Will it be heavier than the IX and VIII, yes, but not by as much as some people believe especially when equipped with the 5-Speed Manual Transmission. I believe keeping the EVO X as light as possible will be important to the Mitsubishi engineers and they will try to save weight in other areas.

Wheels and Tires- 18 inch standard, could be wrong. The wheels we've seen in spy shots will most likely be the wheels available on the production version. 18-245/45 or 50 (honestly who knows?).

Seats- I believe the seats on the prototype are the actual seats on the EVO X. My gut feeling, it's cool I like the seats, different, seem more sportier.

Transmission- I believe a 6-Speed AMT and 5-speed manual will be available at launch, most buyers will opt for the 5-Speed at first, until more performance numbers come out for the AMT. It won't take long for the AMT to make up about 50% of EVO X sales. Could be wrong though.

Suspension and steering- The best ever for a EVO model, I see a re-match with that EVO V

Aftermarket- I believe Exhaust and Intake Mods will be available first. I think there can be some substantial gains made with an aftermarket turboback. The stock EVO IX and VIII exhaust actually flow pretty well in my opinion, and so gains from an exhaust upgrade on those cars where never as dramatic as they should be. I believe that most power from a TBE would actually come from the replacement of the stock cat with a Test Pipe or HFC. I predict big gains from an exhaust upgrade for the EVO X. Like all EVOs, I don't see huge gains for an intake or filter upgrade. Upgraded Front Mount should also be available pretty soon, and I think it will be awesome for the EVO X. Tuning the EVO X will be tricky, but I don't think it will take as long as most people expect. EVO owners have the benefit of hundreds of tuners that tune EVOs, and I believe out of the hundreds of tuners a few will get it right. When that happends watch out but it will be easier to tune the 5-speed manual. Oh yeah tunes will be more expensive, probably gonna cost at least $800 in my opinion. Cams? It took this long for Cams for the IX, I don't even want to imagine how long it will take for the X. Aftermarket turbo, ok now that will be tricky, especially if the turbo is located in the area we've seen from photos. Also not sure how much power the EVO X will be able to make with the new block, the days of 1000whp EVOs may be over with the EVO X, maybe?

Ride- I believe the EVO X will be a much more friendly daily driver, to some this is an absolute sin . But I predict even those people will be won over by the performance numbers. What's wrong with a car that performance like a tiger on a track and drives like a house cat on the streets (until you see the enemy on the streets that ugly *** 2008 hatchback STI and awaken the tiger).

Style- I believe once these cars are seen on the streets people will actually fall in love with the car's styling, something I could never say about the IX or VIII. Is it perfect, of course not. But honestly could it ever be perfect, of course not, somebody would always b*tch about some thing, that's life. Hey atleast Mitsubishi didn't turn the EVO X into a hatchback ! Seriously the car is attractive in my opinion and looks like what a $30,000+ vehicle should look like. I remember I bought my EVO IX, my friends (all girls) where like "That's it?" Then I gave them a ride in it.

Price- All EVOs will cost over $30,000 now, I believe the first EVO Xs will cost around $34,000 and $35,000 and now there will be more options so I wouldn't be surprised to see maxed out in options EVO Xs aprroaching $40,000 before taxes and title. Still a bargain in my opinion. Dealer markups will be just sad, $5,000 to $10,000 dealer mark ups at launch. Yup just plain sad, wait a couple of months to buy one. Seriously dealer mark ups should be banned .

Other Predictions-

- 2008 COTY for Motor Trend Magazine, Motor Trend loves EVOs and will absolutely love the EVO X.

- Sales success in my opinion, freakin hasn't even been released yet and it is a success. Many Subaru owners will be jumpin ship. Many people who wouldn't imagine buying a EVO will consider it and some will buy.

- 12 second 1/4 mile times stock.

- Competition, won't really have any. The 2008 STI is hatchback (maybe a sedan), still has AWD and Turbo, but just doesn't seem like it is the same car as before and doesn't seem like the 2008 STI and 2008 EVO X will be attracting the same customer base as before. In my opinion (even though it still early for the STI and this could change) it seems like the 2008 STI and 2008 EVO X will appeal to different types of people or cunsumers.

- There will also eventually be a EVO X RS and EVO X MR. The RS will only be available with a 5-Speed Manual. The EVO X MR will now further itself from the Base and RS EVO. I seriously see the MR making more power and having a tighter suspension and it will base for no less than $40,000. The MR in my opinion may have performance luxury cars such as the new M3 in mind.

- First aftermarket exhaust will come from ATP, those guys work pretty damn quickly, wouldn't be surprised if they already have their sights on a EVO X. Works also may have an exhaust pretty soon after launch.

Just my thoughts and opinion there is nothing official about this thread. But when the specs are released and if I am pretty close, I'd like to take some credit for that . Could this thread be pointless, possibly but since this is a car forum where we talk about cars, that is what I am doing. Does anybody have anything different to say or their own predictions, please share?

P.S.- This isn't an English Essay, so please if I have some spelling and grammer mistakes, shove it up your ***

power reading and gas mileage is read different now.. doubt the X make more than 300hp at the fly whl. stock. No doubt in my mind the X will never see 1000AWHP.. and your right it will attract different ppl.. maybe now you will ppl picking up chicks with this thing.. but still.. the X is ugly.. OVERRATED and hope that aluminum thing they have under the hood.. blows.. and come to think of it.. it wont be such a friendly car anymore having the turbo face the rear.. say bye bye.. 1 hour turbo swaps..
