Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
Its kind of a PITA that the turbo is now mounted by the firewall, but at least now it won't be cooking the radiator, or causing one to swap to a small radiator with say a GT40r upgrade
. Now if a turbo of that size can possibly fit back there is another thing, maybe there will be some sort of alternate mounting position for turbo upgrades similar to the rotated mount kits for the subies?
If you like the IS and any othe Bling-a-thon Euro Tuner then the X is for you. Every single magazine has said that the first prodcution runs wil be STRICKLY automatics...I could be wrong but no where is any magazine suggesting an manual will be available on the first run. and as far as aftermarket mods parts, forget it, this is a new platform, nothing will be available for a long time. IMHO it looks just like the "new" IS..a copy..if it looks good then I might take a look but as the above poster states it is all conjecture at this point....
I hate to think the 4B11 engine would be used on the EVO. An aluminum open deck block vs. the 4G63 close deck iron block is insane. Alumanium open deck makes sences as a natraully aspirated motor, but not a turbo motor.
I can't see a car company building two motors for the lancer line (lancer/evo). To save cash, they'd make them both iron close deck or aluminum open deck. I'd love to be wrong on this one. Maybe they have a iron truck block they have that could easily/cheaply replace the blocks for evos at the factory.

Good post,I pretty much agree with all your opinions although I think the take on the AMT version is going to be higher. Remember that option along with the upgraded interior and smoother ride will bring in a new breed of Evo owner.
To sum it up I also believe we are going to see a greater portion of Evos dipping into the 12s stock with this model and it's going to be faster on the track than the current model, stock for stock. It will be much less punishing around town, and with many Evo owners needing to commute daily in traffic jams, the AMT will be a blessing.
I forgot to add: The STi will be similarly fast as the Evo. I wonder where they will lie this time as the STi was always chosen as the more comfortable daily driver. I dont think that Subaru will lay down on this one, they've always fought tooth and nail with the Evo,and the Evo was always chosen as the more driver-oriented car. Just because the new WRX is ugly as sin doesnt mean the STi (which will come as a sedan) wont be fast. Personally I dont see the STi as a choice considering the 100k mile warranty,5/60 bumper to bumer, etc. that comes standard. I know that some have had issues with warranty coverage on their Evos but I personally have always been taken care of with Mitsu service as always it will depend on the dealer you choose. I know that Mitsu is well aware of this perception as I personally have taken 4 seperate surveys regarding my new Outlander and took two for the Evo.
