Thanks for the info! Very interesting though how that same website estimates the WRX to do 0-60 and the 1/4 mile in the exact same time as the Evo. Wonder what's up with that??? Guess we'll soon find out the real times

I'm pretty sure 3500 is going to be high. Someone on this board speculated that 3500 was arrived at by adding the weight difference from the old Lancer and evo, and adding that to the weight of the new Lancer. However, it's been noted in a few places that the new base Lancer is 50% stiffer than the Evo IX. So it's very likely that the estimate is high because Mitsu won't need to add any stiffening to the chassis.

If there was a betting pool over the weight, my money's on 3350.

Every 1/4 mile calculator I plug the 3500 lb / 320 hp figure into comes up with a mid 13 1/4 mile, so lets hope the weight is not correct.

Most likely, it will be... Think about it... They're trying to aim at the larger group of drivers... make it more luxurious, make it easier on the driver... Mitsubishi has been losing quite a bit... They're not selling as much as other companies. I think that selling the Evo by it looking more luxurious, that they'll get more selling going on. So by wanting to attract that bigger group of people, they're going to put more stuff in it to attract. Right now we don't really care if the inside of the Evo's of now don't look like a Bentley because we only like it for the speed, not comfortability.

Your assuming a car has to be a fat *** to be luxurious and easier on the driver, that isn't always the case. They can shave off the weight if they really want to.

My guesses-

320-325HP@7200RPM
315-320TQ@4500RPM
3350-3400Lbs

I want to see if I get close

We just need to know what the added weight of AWD and turbo is going to be.

well you cannot just go by that because they can make the roof on the X alum. Along with other parts like the trunk, hood, door's if they wanted too, the seats there are soo many ways mitsu can save on weight.

I've read in a number of sources that Mitsu will be replacing a lot of steel parts (suspension mostly) with aluminum for the Evo X. But if you look, you can see that even the roof panel is different between the Evo and Lancer, as well as every other body panel except the front doors. That's why I think 3350 is the number.

But it is possible that it'll be even closer to the current Evo.. Who knows?

Does that calculator count in the new suspension or the fact that the drive train might be more efficient. Or the fact that the car will be able to shift faster than any human could possibly shift.

I think that 3350 will be the magis number for DSG transmission variant and a bit less for the manual tranny. There is a lot of weight difference between the IX and last gen regular lancer because they are basically two different cars riding on different frames, Evo X and the new regular Lancer will share the underpinnings. You can add the AWD system and turbo but you can subtract the weight of the aluminum roof, maybe hood, maybe even fenders, suspension, etc etc., I just don't think that 3500 lbs is a good estimate and I don't think that Evo X with 300HP, 3500lbs, can push the predicted numbers, so it's flawed.

I smell a 320-340HP car with about 3350-3400lbs the most with a better traction/AWD system than any previous Evos. 0-60 time of less than 4.5 secs. with a DSG.

Unfortunately, those calculators don't work very well for the Evo. Most put the IX MR at 13.8.

For something interesting check out THIS CALC.

If I punch in the estimated ET of an IX MR (13.3) with a 170lb driver, I get 290hp. Which is right on the money. Even going to a 200lb driver returns 293hp, and the Evo's launch can account for that easily.

If I punch in the estimated ET of the X (12.5) with a curb weight of 3350 and a 170lb driver, I get 356hp.

Obviously EVERY spec used for the X is a guess, but it does give me somethign to think about. The biggest question I have, however, is: How did they come up with the 12.5 number?

By pulling it out of their *****. No way in hell will the X run mid 12's with those stats. Absolutely not.
