Dammit! I wish Ms. Brenda Priddy didn't watermark right under the windshield. It looks like they put a scoop right where the scoop would be on the X. If so, it proves that the hood scoop is not only functional but *essential* to the X.

I wonder what it feeds.. Maybe the Airbox, but the Prototype X under-hood shots don't seem to show any reason for the scoop. Very Odd.

 

I heard of a bunch of dealerships in Canada that already have taken pre-orders. A friend who went to talk with a local dealership here was told that if he wanted one before summer of 08 he pretty much had to put money down ASAP. Dealership told him they already had 9 and another dealership in a near-by city had 30 pre-orders. All I can say is I'll just wait until this craze is over, specially here in Canada since we don't have Evo 8s or 9s.

 

Correct, all Mitsu dealers in Edmonton and Calgary are accepting $1000 CAD deposits for a place in line. As of the official 08 Lancer unveiling party a few weeks ago, there were 10 deposits paid in Edmonton, 30 some in Calgary. I'm putting mine in soon.

Oh man, this 4B11 bashing gets better every day. Hilarious how this board is full of experts on the engine even though no one has driven, seen, assembled, disassembled, tuned, etc a 4B11.

As I have said before, everyone fears and hates change until change blows your doors off on the street or at the track...

And for the record, MANY in other countries will argue the last true Evo was the VI. Dont act like your VIII/IX is a raw beast until you have driven or been a passenger in a V or VI...

Actually Evo 1 to 9 is same motor 4G63 but Diffrent Size of motor still An Iron Block of 4G63 and Alum Head. Iron Block is heartbeat of Mitsubishi of Evolutions

4B11 is Full Alum Block. it possible blow up as same STI motor

 

The engine is just one system in the vehicle. Have you driven a V or VI? No, you havent. They are all the same size, 2 liter since inception. The engine was redone and reversed after the III. The rest of the car, the balance and feel, is what made the VI more raw than the VII/VIII/IX.

And just because an engine is all aluminum does not mean it will "blow up." Will it notbe able to handle 35+ psi and 1000 hp? Probably not, but how many people do that with the 4G63? If you say alot Ill laugh in your face. You want a horsepower pissing match, go buy a Supra. You want an all around sedan, get an Evo. Oh yea, dont pass judgement on a car you have no hard data on and have not driven. Thats ignorant.

I could get into how a design team can create an aluminum block with the same factor of safety as as a heavier cast iron block, but I figure that would be way over your head.....

People cry too much over the X. And its not even out or fully tested.
