Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
This car have high expectations to edge out the Evo IX by at least a few ticks in 0-60, quarter mile, etc. etc. to keep the Evo nameplate respectable.
Seeing how DSG has been implemented effectively in some cars beforehand & Mitsu wants to keep the Evo recognized as the responsive speedster we all know & love, I wouldn't be so quick to compare this to a automatic lazy shifter.

Personally I think that this is great. I have a wife that has absolutely no desire to learn how do drive a stick, trust me I have tried over and over again to convince her of the benifits of stick. Like Adrenaline 1 said above, she just wants step on the gas and cruise, in other words be lazy. So by going to DSG style shifting method Mitsu will be able sell their product to another demographic. If it's as effective as they claim it to be be they will also be able to open up to this market with out sacrificing performance. Give it a chance, DSG was a step forward for VW hopefully this is a step forward for Mitsu.
We've been talking about the same thing here http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2
Personally, I like both, but what mostly holds me back from the DSG style box is that I don't want to be limited in terms of tuning and such.

i was told by a salesman when i bought my IX that it the X was going to be a half and half i think is calle triptonic you shift from the sterring wheel, they might come in optional too.
Just to qualify your claim of "rape," this is the fastest DSG GTI I could find with a published 1/4 mile time:

A lot of mods to run 99mph.
Personally I'd be interested to see an auto Evo with a torque converter and the trans setup/tuned like the new steptronics in the BMW's. It actually shifts fast for an auto (100ms shift times) and are generally only around 10 hp down vs a stick.
My reasoning is you have to slip the sh*t out of your clutch to get off the line with these cars. Which leads to burnt up clutches, stronger clutches, and more broken driveline parts. With a TC it can slip all day and not burn up and doesn't shock the driveline the way a clutch can. Plus you keep the engine on boost during shifts. Sounds promising to me.

Why do so many think DSG=Automatic? The internals are nothing alike. DSG only takes the left foot out of the equation. Unlike automatics that take everything out of the equation.
