Have you?

If you are going to sit here and just say that the 4G63 is just some "two liter", you are alot more ignorent than you seem.

Yeah, which is why B series Honda engines and Audi/VW 1.8T engines make as much power as easily and are as strong as the 4G63, right? After all, aluminum four cylinder engines have always been proven to be the strongest....

How much power have you ever made with a 4G63? Do you even know what the record is for power on a stock bottom end? ****, have you ever even tore down an engine, or even seen and compared a 4G63 rod to that of an SR20DET? ALOT of people have been making tons of power on the 4G63 for years, many with stock internals. Tell me, what did you drive before you owned an Evo?

Is it over your head for me to explain to you WHY the 4B11 was created, or is that over your head?
1. Yes I have had a ride in a VI, thanks for asking bud. Take a trip to Europe. Id encourage it for more than just a test drive though.

2. I was clarifying that the 4g63 has always been a 2 liter, not dumbing it down at all. The previous post talked about how diplacement changed over the years. Easy there tiger. The words "just some two liter" never came out of my mouth.

3. The VW engine was designed for low boost, the b series was designed for NO boost. Whats your point exactly? Are you assuming an aluminum block cant be designed differently to accomidate higher cylinder pressures? Please.

4. You missed the point about horsepower. At no point was I questioning the current engines capability to produce massive horsepower on the stock bottom end. My point was how many people need that? Maybe the 4B11 wont support as much horsepower and boost, but how many people actually test the limits of the 4G63? I mean an actual percentage of Evos bought. On top of the fact NONE of us know the actual capabilites of a sleeved 4B11. If you claim to, Im sure Buschur, AMS, Vishnu, etc would love to talk to you.

5. What do you mean with your "why the 4B11 was created" comment? Are you referring to how the engine was a joint effort under the GEMA banner, to be used in DCX, Hyundai, and Mitsu platforms? Let me ask you this. Are you going to sit there and believe Mitsu has made no changes to the basic 4B design?

It seems you got quite upset thinking I was attacking the 4G63. This was hardly my intentions. I am merely trying to point out the 4B11 has potential and should be considered with an open mind until proven otherwise. Will an open deck all aluminum engine be as stout at the 4g63? Probably not. What if it can support 80% of what the stock 4g63 can, with a weight savings and a quicker spool due to better head flow? Tuners are already commenting about the space between the firewall and the engine, as well as the benefits of the exhaust exiting the back of the motor.

Since nothing is known about the 4B11, my speculation is just as reasonable as yours. We can trade bits of knowledge about who has the most horsepower on a 4g and whohas torn apart more engines, but where is that going to get anyone. Keep an open mind, if the 4B11 proves to be a dud you will have every right to complain.

Ehh.. I don't let it bother me. I'm going to enjoy my X regardless. I doubt the engine's just going to detonate like so many seem to think.

I'd 'pre-order' one now, except that I'm not sure what dealerships I'll be near next year as I'm moving.

I used to frequent freshalloy.com a nissan enthusiast forum. The SR20DET made 612whp on stock bottom end. Thats pretty impressive for all aluminum block and head. It lasted a good month or so before it blew. I know this is higher than the stock block record for 3SGTE (MR2) Iron block engine. But not sure about the 4G

Aluminum blocks can be as realistically reliable as the guy who tunes it.

Then that dealership won't get the sale. If my local dealerships are charing 5K over MSRP, and it costs only 1K to ship the car, I'll travel to find one at MSRP. Hell, I can rent a truck and car trailer from Uhaul for less and do it myself. $1200 (shipping and plane ticket) is a lot cheaper than $5000 no matter how you look at it.

Seems pretty stupid to charge 5K over when you look at it like that. Plus, back when the Evo first came to the US, dealerships could charge that much because there were no used Evos. Now there are tons of used Evos. Remember Joe Public is usually more concerned with the nameplate on the back of their car than the car itself. If Joe Public walks into a dealership and sees 5K-10K over sticker, they'll go online and find a good 8 or 9 for half that.

If for some reason, dealerships start charging that much for the X, don't think I won't make due on my promise up above. I'll make a long weekend of it . This time, rather than a thread about dealerships who are overcharging, we should start a thread listing dealerships that are fair, and names of transport companies, or nearby Uhaul centers.

Congrats, another thread turned into one of those "my ***** is bigger than yours" threads. This argument is so stupid it's not even funny. Post on topic or STFU!!!

Depending on when it comes out and how much money I've made up until then, I will probably pick up an X as a DD.

There won't be any kinks. The X will be perfect from the get go which is why I won't mind buying one in the first year of production!
