I'm so happy! Now when SUVs crash into us, it'll be more of an even fight.

Well.... the current Lancer that's out now I'd say mainly the engine if you were to get the turbo that the Evo X will have.

If it's true that the Ralliart Lancer will have AWD then I think by then it would only be a matter of getting the turbo for there to be a close-to-accurate X conversion.

^That's kind of "****ty" if you think about it, no?

A main reason I like the older Evos is because you can tell them apart from the Lancers, and if you WANT power, then you have to raise up to an Evo. Not just buy a $14,000 Lancer, a $5,000 turbo, and a few more things that will still come up to being a couple thousand bucks less than an Evo.
If people can easily convert to an X, then all people have to do is buy the lowest costing Lancer (About $14,000), do a few upgrades, and BAM. That in my opinion, is pretty lame. I can't think of any other word than just... lame.

Well don't forget the AWD and S-AWC. And then there's the Brembos, Recaros, suspension upgrades, body parts, etc. To do a full conversion, it'll cost as much or more than a Evo to have it done. And those who could do it themselves probably would go for the Evo anyways.

I really don't think this is going to be an issue. Regardless, there will definately be a clear line between an Evo and a converted Lancer..

I havn't noticed any 'noticable' body parts on an Evo that are different than the Lancer... perhaps just the hood.

A: Anything's possible with enough money. However, it'd be a hell-of-a lot less expensive and time consuming if you just buy the X. Anybody who plans on attempting this conversion would be stupid. Just save for the X, get a better job to afford the X, or wait a few years after the release and get a good used X. Forgive me, but I think some of us have too much time on our hands to come up with such an idea ... wow. *shakes head in disbelief*

Umm, including the hood:

The whole front grill/bumper.
Side skirts are different, smoother and better blended than the GTS.
Rear spoiler.
Rear bumper.
Wheel flares.
Aerodynamic ribs on the roof.
Projector Headlights.
Dual Exhaust tips.
Rear decklid has accents under taillights. (edit)

You really should look again. There's not a single body panel that's untouched on the Evo.

EDIT: Oops there is; the front doors are untouched. But that's it.

speackig of handling, have any of you guys seen how well some of these SUVs handle???? pretty good for 2 ton of car! lol

also i have heard the new skyline will be coming out with magnetic suspension (like the 599GTB). i think this will make a MASSIVE improvment to the, already very good, body control of the Evo (if it where ever to be fitted).

thanks Chris.
