Yes it is harder, some say impossible to bore the block anymore but they definitely can hold power...

But yes for doing mods the Lt1 or a non aluminum block can be better

Yeah all NORMALLY ASPIRATED BMW blocks are aluminum... of course BMW isn't crazy and used good old iron sleeves for the new turbocharged 335i.

I wouldn't go that far. First off and this has to be the biggest difference is the eclipse went from a turbo 4 to a NA 6-Cylinder and as far as I know Mitsubishi has no plans on putting a 6-Cylinder in the EVO. 2nd thing, we still don't know a lot about the EVO X and if we believe Mitsubishi the X should be one of the best overall performance EVOs ever. I mean we can all sit here and b*tch, but if the numbers are impressive I can almost gurrantee the b*tching will die down.

The biggest difference is the Evo10 will be made in, sold in, and engineered by japan.

And you hit the nail right in the head. Eclipse, from the get go was a vehicle engineered, made, and sold in USA for American tastes. Lancer is an international car made for a whole lot different crowd with a different taste. As long as California studios won't touch the Lancer, it's going to be fine.

I don't think we have to worry about evo X heading toward the direction of eclipse.
Mitsubishi would be using evo X for World Rally Championship starting 2008.
Unlike eclipse which has never been used for any type of racing series, evo is built for rallying.
Although there are much debate over its appearance, I highly doubt there would be a lot of controversy over its performance.
I'm not sure about its potential for tuning at this time though.

...car companies ruin cars in the tuner minds, but improve them for the average consumer.
