Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
If the DSG proves to be reliable, Lower maintence fees, Able to take good size hp increase with mods and not break or need to be reprogrammed, And able to rev match with complete driver control.... Then I might consider buying the X with DSG. Guess I'll have to wait to test drive...
I believe you, but it doesnt' matter, those who want to modify their evo's just could choose the stickshift insteaed of DSG...
I remember when the Evo VII GTA's came out lancerregistrar posts came around where they said you cant modify the engine because the tranny cant handle it... blah blah blah thats why it had 240hp instead of 272... guess what there are multiple 400-500hp beasts throughout asia still holding strong

And actually the GT-A has 272hp -->http://www.lancerregister.com/mlr_sh...&id1=22&id2=18
And where are these 400-500hp GT-A's, I'm assuming you mean with stock transmissions? I'm curious to see them.

I agree with that.
And paddle shifters - when set up for performance - are much, much better for quickness than a regular manual for 99.999% of the drivers you are going to see. There is a reason all the high end super cars use them now.
The IS paddle shifter is set up for luxury/smoothness and also I think this is the first year they have offered it - right? I have not driven one, but my wife's Jag XType had clutchless sport shift (similar to alot of the less expensive luxury car paddleshifters) and it sucks for performance. Sure you can get it to take off quicker than in regular auto mode, but it's not a true paddle shifter (performance wise) imho.

Here's the link to Eric Hsu's blog. LINK
He stated that "Word from sources at Mitsubishi say that they are having difficulty generating 300hp on our ****ing ****ty pump gas we have here in America."
It's not that hard to believe if they were testing on 91 octane.

Goord lord how many times do people have to say it...its heritage is in WRC and in WRC they use paddle shifters...
I personally don't have a problem with the new DSG transmission, but the transmission has a problem with mods.
According to the April issue of Sport Compact Car (the one with the Evo X on the cover) They explain how the new DSG cannot handle even the slightest bit of power increase with out a complete reprogram; and reprogramming the system is really hard to crack and tune. I'm sure the new DSG will be faster than a conventional style transmission but when mods are taken into consideration the DSG might be a big problem.
This new system might only be good for people who want to leave the car stock or people who can't drive stick (ie stall all of the time).
Just my 2 cents

Anyway, if it turns out it IS that hard to mod the Evo, it would mean it is the first Evo in history not easily prepped for racing...which would mean so much for the FQ series...so much for Ralliart aftermarket support...so much for the Evo being an Evo...might as well call it the "Lancer 2 Evolution I" because it would be the first iteration of a piece of crap ricemobile BMW wannabe...but I'm still keeping the faith that it won't go down like that...I'm hoping they will stick to their roots in the areas that count...
VW did that on purpose...they don't have factory-backed companies like Ralliart and rally team to worry about...just those weirdos who would rather walk than ride in something without a VW badge.
