Does anyone know if it will be the same 6speed tranny they used in the EVO 9 MR? And who the hell wants paddleshifts? It isnt a ferrari. And I dont think I would ever trust Mitsu's Paddleshifts. And whats the deal with all the diff models of the X?

Geeez. We don't know anything about car the yet. How do you know that the Mitsu DSG is going to suck? I'm done owning this thread and I will now forever leave all Evo X speculations threads. It's full of a bunch of lamers that are afraid of change.

Tell that to the steptronic 335i BMW guys, who can shift a lot faster than their 6 speed brothers, but make like 30whp and 50whp less.

How much will be the ugrade? I think we can forget the good old times, when we talk about it $ vs HP the EVO is the best. Besides the fact, its going to take a while, when somebody will have PRUVEN good tranny computer tune. And who will be the first 100 or who knows, test one ? You want to be?
I have a Chevy Trailblazer SS (has the 395hp LS2) with the 4l60E from GM that is cpmuter operated and it is great for being able to tune the tranny, most tooners are including the trans tooning in with the price of engine ECU tuning. I know it is not a DSG but there might be some real advantages to having a toonable tanny

Think of drag racing with a fixed launch rpm with instant shifiting? How many of us have missed a 3-4 shift on the 5 speed, I know I have and tore up sychros b/c of it. Go drive a R32 with DSG and then let us know how you would like you next Evo.

What's up with all the hate people? Just be glad you have a choice.

Me? I approve of the DSG all the way. I also do like shifting gears manually and a foot operated clutch. I have a choice; the thrill of shifting manually or the thrill of being faster.

To all the DGS haters: you can whine all you want and say the DSG owners aren't as cool as you are with all your skillz, you will still lose time in shifts. DSG is better than you everyday, every shift.

Here is the formula:

DSG>you

It's science.

As far as modding goes, we don't know what will happen yet, but it's a only matter of time before the aftermarket will figure it out. Remember when EFI came out? Everybody whined and moaned just like you are now, becasue they didn't know how to do jack squat with it. Now if it doesn't have EFI, it's not going to be taken seriously.

People who resist change will be left behind.

I'm sure the new DSG will be faster than a conventional style transmission but when mods are taken into consideration the DSG might be a big problem.

This new system might only be good for people who want to leave the car stock or people who can't drive stick (ie stall all of the time).

Just my 2 cents

I can't trust SCC due to the fact that they boast being the first to drive the car but only took it to 20mph , that is no real test whatsoever

I didn't hear ANYWHERE on that video that it would come with a 6 speed manual. It only stated a "an available six speed automated manual transmission" "of course purists can still opt for a traditional manual"

Who's the boob now?

Awwww. You got me.All we can say now is that it will have a manual. The number of gears is still unknown. This is now my last post in Evo X threads until it's actually out.

I am going to have a big laugh for those that always put sand and talked smack on the 6 speeds transmission.

For over 2.5 years I had to argue that the 6 speed was not by any means weak. Now is your turn, for those that talk smack about the 6 speed and are getting a Evo X you know you are about to wear the same boots I did.

On a serious note, I am not. But keep in mind the Mitsubishi engineers already figure things out and if they think the 6 speed is better than having a 5 speed then don't question it, they did the testing and they drove the Evo X for over 100000 miles before they release it. We just have to wait and see how this new 6 speed is.
My .2c

Manual Shifting is always better for the ultimate driving experience... DONT for one second think Im saying that ALL paddles are bad. But for street, and once and awhile track use. The manual just seems more practicle.. Kinda hard to Heel Toe downshift with a paddleshifter.....

why would it be any different with a paddle vs. manual? You can still rev match with paddles. If anyhting, it would be easier if they paddle shifter rev-matched for you
